Makes even the origanal Hills have Eyes look mildly ok, which it aint as that shit beyond words as well.

The critics have got stuck into it because of a very graphic rape scene.

This film been getting a lot of praise from horror fans. They're calling it the best remake since Snyder's Dawn of the Dead or Cronenberg's The Fly, depending on who ask.

Snyder's DOTD eats balls compared to the original though.

Synder's DotD was decent, but agreed, it's nowhere near as good or memorable as Romero's original.

Cronenberg's The Fly though is a masterpiece of contemporary cinema, it shits all over most horror films, not just the original and its sequels. Ditto with Carpenter's The Thing, another flawless piece of cinematic art.

Yeah let's hear it for The Thing!! Possibly not quite as good as Assault on Precinct 13(?) but up there with the best - I've been mad about that film since I first encountered on tv many years ago. Gotta love that John Carpenter magic

IMO The Thing is hands down the best film of Carpenter's career.

And that's the problem with it. It's decent horror fodder, no more. Was surprised at the praise it received... presumably from people who hadn't seen the original.

Haven't seen Hawks' original, but I'm a fan of the Carpenter remake. By all accounts a radically different movie.

I completely & utterly agree with this.

The Thing, Halloween, and Assault on Precinct 13 are my favourite Carpenter films.

Not really both the origanal and remake are 5 stars, from me and many others so no many have seen both and love both. The remake betters the origanal in soo many ways as well.
