Deezer.com - The Free Online Music Jukebox!

[bradavon]

I’ve discovered this rather cool online music website, first the link www.deezer.com. I’m sure like me; sometimes you get bored of your music collection. The beauty of Deezer is:

1. It’s entirely free.
2. It’s dead simple to use, go to www.deezer.com, type in your selection, click Play and it plays. No buffering or any crap like that.
3. The interface has the usual Play/Stop/Next/Back controls.
4. Deezer.com is entirely browser based, no crap ITunes Bloatware to install. All it needs is a Flash, who doesn’t have that?
5. You don’t even have to bother registering. Although if you do, you can create playlists and select your favourite albums.
6. Each song has a “Permlink”, which is a direct link to the song in question. With this you can easily e-mail friends a song you’ve been talking about.
7. If you create a profile it also means, as long as you have Internet access you can always have your favourite music with you.
8. The profile section is clearly Facebook inspired, which is no bad thing.

Downsides:

1. As its browser based, it tends to increase your browsers memory significantly, that said my PC and Internet speed don’t seem any slower. I have several Firefox tabs open, no web slowdown noticed.
2. Deezer.com is French based, meaning small parts of the site are in French but except for the forum (which is entirely French), you have to be looking to find it. They’ve done a good job making it “English Friendly”. The UK equivalent looks to be Last.fm but this has a pretty poor interface in my opinion.

It looks to have a pretty large following in France, here’s one quote:

“If you go to a party at someone’s place, you will ALWAYS see a laptop in a corner with Deezer playing stuff. People walk up, search for what they want to hear, and it plays. Simple.”
