We all know the IMDB top films have some odd choices in (there are quite a few very recent films there that seem odd IMO, maybe theyre still fresh in peoples minds. (Pirates of The Carribean? Very enjoyable but come on).
How many of the top 250 do you own on DVD? I own these.. (going down the list)
I own 23 (I think) - some surprising nominees in the top 250 IMO, I mean Spirited Away is very good, but in the top 250 films ever made? Come on It was one of the best films released in its year though (2001 or 2003).

i have 48 of them can't be bothered to list. 8) i don't agree with the order how can the immortal KING KONG be languishing at #213 178 places below MATRIX a good movie but not the 35th best ever made imo.
I guess its all in the eye of the beholder, as most of them are total crap
1. 9.0 The Godfather (1972) Shit film and A Joke its even in the top 1000!
I own 80 of them, but to say that some of them deserve to be in that list is a joke, it shows you how sad some people are some are nice films, but far from deserving to be in any top lists.
These lists are much more down to what's popular in peoples minds at the moment instead of quality. Of course there is always some bias such as Godfather always being number one.
Sure it's a great film but not top 10 material for me anyway.
This list is weird, though.
Kill Bill 1 in the top 250 ?! Come On !
Tarantino has stolen bits and pieces of great asian movies to make this piece of crap.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".
Kill Bill V1 is far better than 95% of them on the list, its a masterpiece! and stealing doesnt make a film any less at all, all directors steal on purpose or not, they all do it! so I never understand saying things like that.
Asia has very few masterpieces anyway to steal from, the films that influenced Kill Bill were on the whole far from masterpieces.
2. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
18. The Usual Suspects (1995)
19. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
23. Psycho (1960)
25. C'era una volta il West (1968)
29. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
38. Vertigo (1958)
49. Se7en (1995)
57. L.A. Confidential (1997)
58. Léon (1994)
61. American History X (1998)
79. Reservoir Dogs (1992)
83. Jaws (1975)
85. Aliens (1986)
88. Braveheart (1995)
90. Wo hu cang long (2000)
109. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
121. Ying xiong (2002)
123. Unforgiven (1992)
143. Platoon (1986)
147. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
156. Die Hard (1988)
188. The Terminator (1984)
190. Groundhog Day (1993)
212. The Exorcist (1973)
246. The Untouchables (1987)
Tom didnt say Tarantino stole from "masterpieces" but he did say "many great Asian movies" which is true, Romero
The thing about the top 250 list is it is entirely subjective.
For example IMO Leon's theatrical version is a good movie but the Director's Cut is far better, which version did IMDB vote for? Some of them I would describe as very entertaining, good movies, that don't necessarily deserve to be there.
Groundhog Day is a classic though I suppose its' better if you take the chart as a snapshot of what a wide section find entertaing
Well the vote is for the theatrical cut as that's the one listed but no doubt many people voted thinking of the DC. The DC is only listed in "alternate cuts".
Perhaps the more fitting question should be how many of these have you SEEN, not how many do you own? If THAT were the question, I've SEEN all but about 30 of those titles.
But, since that isn't what was asked, here are the titles of the ones that I own (many on VHS; never updated to DVD):

I agree wholeheartedly that most films are influenced or steal ideas from other films or film-makers including asian film makers. Now while I don't have any grievance against Tarantino for this, in my opinion he blatantly stole most of Lady Snowblood - blizzard of the netherworld for kill Bill!
I own these.. (going down the list)
some are nice films, but far from deserving to be in any top lists.
