That's right, hack-and-slash game Oneechanbara is getting a hack-and-slash film adaptation! The movie was announced today at a Tokyo press conference, and the flick's website was launched. The film will star TV talent Eri Otoguro as Aya, bikini model Chise Nakamura as little sister Saki and idol Manami Hashimoto as Reiko.

Schoolgirls, cowgirls (can't say I like those, really) and katanas. Looks ace, eh?

3 + 2 = 1,5. Hmm. It’s got a school girl zombie, topples lady zombie, and a zombie eating intestines. It’s also got a katana wielding bikini girl as the main character, and a seifuku cutie as her opponent. Obviously someone thouyght this would be a winning formula. Gô Ohara’s action design borrows from Versus and Death Trance (in which he also worked) but does everything with notably less success. The director (Yôhei Fukuda) shows little talent, and the actors are so wooden they don’t even do justice to the cardboard characters. CGI is plenty and very bad, but actually works to the benefit of the film. The core idea - swords, girls and zombies - is also fun enough to entertain a tiny bit even if the pic fails on other areas. Oh, and this is a video game adaptation.

Holy shit, this wasn't half as terrible as Hung Fist made me believe it was.
Plays like a cross-over between "Machine Girl", "Dawn of the Dead" (with rather generic and therefore slightly boring gore-scenes) and every other movie where hot girls slice things in half with their Samurai-Swords. Okay, sure, obviously it's nothing you'd call a good movie, but still solid, trashy entertainment with lots of action; the sword-fighting is fast-paced and well choreographed. The blood-explosons looks fake, but since there're so many of them, you'll start accepting them quite early into the film. They actually work in favor of the director's ambition to re-create the aesthetics of a live-action computer-game. In the end it culminates in a kinda stupid "Dragonball Z"'ish finale, which is still fun to watch, though. The Bikini Cowgirl is quite a hottie, but I'd rather let that evil Schoolgirl punish me for enjoying this piece of cinematic crap. Yes, I'm a such bad boy.

Gamer-Geeks, Splatter-Fanboys and Otaku-Pervs rejoice, for the trailer of the sequel "OneChanbara: vorteX" finally has arrived!

New leading actress as well, 24-year old Gravure-Idol Yuu Tejima. Not that it matters much, though. On the other hand . . .
