Where to get old devalued foreign currency?

Post by degeneration »

Met someone travelling a while back who had a reasonable sized bundle of old bolivian (or somewhere from sth america) bank notes that were their old currency before/during their hyperinflation period which were now completely worthless. He picked them up when in the country for very little money, and they made playing poker good fun, being able to throw all the money into the pot!

So, I've been looking to see if there is anywhere online where you can buy this completely devalued money so that I can use it for poker too. Ideally I'd want a bundle of lots of different valued notes. I found on ebay a bundle of 100 chinese notes for about £6, but they are all the same value. While that's better than nothing I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere else to get them?

Nothing, but sometimes it is nice for the feeling of throwing big wads of money onto the table!! It is all for the feeling and effect! Played once with the bolivian money and it was cool throwing down $20,000 (or whatever the currency was)!!!

Vietnamese Dong is worthless outside of Vietnam, it's a valued currency in Vietnam but try getting rid of it once you've left the country. You won't be able to.

Thankfully I got rid of most of mine before I left. You take USD in and they give you USD or Dong back depending on what they have.
