The HD-DVD transfer maybe heavily DNR'ed, but it's a massive improvement over the DVD's transfer - which is heavily cropped and contrast boosted.

I'd love to see how the most recent R2FR release and the Criterion stack up against the R2UK.

N.B. The R2UK UE (3-disc tin) also has burnt-in English subs. Optimum's 1-disc AE should be identical.

Looks like the Criterion DVD uses same master as the HD-DVD.
