Seems like a lot of 80's franchises are being revived these days doesnt it?
Hope its a return to BHC 1 terrorty (violence, swearing) and not BHC 3.

I fear it will be the latter. I just cannot see Bret Ratner (what a poor choice) giving us what a BHC film really needs.

Still if it has a fitting storyline (a theme park, WTF!) then it should be better than part 3. I love BHC1/2 so I hope this is good but swearing means an R rating and I just cannot see it being that any more .

Rambo 4 it worked but otherwise I really wish they'd leave 80s films in the 80s, they just don't work being updated for today. You never know though Eddie Murphy is on record saying he disliked making BHC3 and he must want a hit after so long.

It's also a shame Jerry Bruckheimer isn't on board, he at leasts know how to make a "well made" action film if nothing else.

If he says he disliked BHC3 maybe he want to make an R film, we'll see.

Except for Shrek, Shrek 2 and Dreamgirls Eddie Murphy hasn't been in a decent movie since Bowfinger (which I've not seen though) and probably Metro before that, over a decade ago.

He was great in Shrek, Shrek 2 and Dreamgirls but they're not main starring roles.

Metro was the last Murphy movie I really enjoyed and even then it wasn't funny (better as an action movie). I don't doubt Ratner could manage good action sequences with BHC4 but I worry seriously about the comedy content. Murphy hasn't been funny since The Distinguished Gentleman in 1992! I wonder if he'll be partnered with a Chinese chop-socky no-speaky-English character?

Me too and the rest of the film too. Ratner makes films by numbers, he has no ideas of his own.

You should see Dreamgirls, he's brilliant in that and it proves he still "has it". I love that film and cannot wait to see it on HD.

Yeah, but in a Beverly Hills Cop movie, he'd be the star. So its likely they'd swing which ever way he wanted (though the MPAA may have other ideas)

Exactly, the MPAA suck and just look at BHC3 .

BHC1 and BHC2 are so good. I forget how many times I've seen then but never tire of them. I'd buy the BDs no contest.

My wife was watching Dreamgirls on sky the other week.from what i saw of it which admittedly was not a lot and no way to judge a film,it played like a tv movie of the week you'd find on a weekday afternoon on the hallmark channel

I think you said it all there "which admittedly was not a lot" as you're so, so wrong. What did your wife think of it?

I think it's excellent and it's nothing like a TV movie, it's very cinematic in fact. I've seen it twice (cinema then plane) and cannot wait to see it again on HD-DVD. The music alone is worth the price of admission.

It was marketed as one. I know as I went to the cinema to see it 11 years ago. Even so the comedy that's in it - primary or not - is very lame. I'd like to see a re-cut with all the "funny" bits removed.
