Sweet, I'm so glad that Universal are distributing HKL line down here. I can rent titles and not spend on costly UK imports (*shakes fist at high GBP exchange rate*).

I like the Australian cover arts for the HKL releases.







The covers of "Fist of Fury" and "Iron Monkey: Platinum Edition" are similar to the UK releases.

I like the Australian "Police Story" one better than the UK one.

Will this discs be the same? AFAIK all HKL DVDs are already R4 compatible and PAL of course.

I'm surprised it's taken so long!

From what I can tell from the press releases compared with the R2 disc specs, they're the same. Except Iron Monkey PE appears to be missing the DTS track. I won't be able to confirm anything till I rent some of the discs.

Thanks Eva. Aren't Aussie e-taillors cheaper than Kiwi ones? Out of the few Kiwi e-tailors I can find they seem to be.

I've used EzyDVD, DVD Crave and also recommend them. FBO are often the cheapest but their silly security procedures put me off.

When I last looked you had to be charged something like 25c on your credit card statement followed by waiting for it to appear so you could tell them how much you've been charged. They will then refund you the money and you're clear to buy from them. Far to much effort if you ask me.

From my experiences, yes. I remember I bought R4 Spirited Away LE from dvdcrave for $30NZD, cuz it was $40NZD locally. Ditto for a few games as well, like Silent Hill 3 - $80NZD from dvdcrave, $110NZD locally.

Shit, I knew there was some silly reason I hadn't used em before, but couldn't remember.

Reminds me of Gamestop.com, they won't deal with non-Nth American customers until they receive a copy of your credit card statement.

I finally viewed a R4 HKL disc, Iron Monkey PE. The features list appears identical to the R2 and the DTS track is intact. The only differences seem to be a different selection of preview trailers for other titles.

It maybe uncut Ice (which I doubt) but I doubt it's from the FS print. I'm sure these are carbon copies.

I'd be pissed off with having such late release dates! If the specs on the discs are more or less the same to the UK discs then why such the long wait?

Although the Armour of God and Police Story covers are fantastic! The UK Police Story cover is rubbish.

I agree on both. I guess as far as Universal are concerned the HKL DVDs are already in a decent state to just port across and "most" people wouldn't even know or care if a DVD was cut.

In this case Universal shouldn't have bought the rights to Eastern Condors allowing someone else to pick it up.

Well, if we make enough noice, maybe it won't happen in the future. HKL titles are avaliable in Holland but I think they are cut as well!

Yep they are.

The discs are identical. It's precisely why the UK discs also have Dutch subs. The disc cover art even has a Dutch certificate on them.

Only the outer case cover art is changed.

This only applies to HKL, PA DVDs are not ported to Holland.
