Clearly both transfers are from the same master.

HD-DVD:- Detail could be better, as shot #9 demonstrates, but overall you have a pretty nice looking transfer of a film of this vintage and budget. I'd wager that this is the best that the film will look for quite some time to come. If you have already have an HD-DVD player, then this classic horror masterpiece is definitely worth picking up on the format, IMO.

Thanks. The HD-DVD looks better, the colours are too saturated on the DVD. I've yet to see it. I should check it out.

Amazing that the UK DVD is still non-anamorphic!

I went from the UK non anamporhic transfer to the HD DVD, so its a much bigger difference between them that the caps above :) a MUCH bigger one.

All of Europe (except Germany) and Australia too:

Why Universal only released the CE in America is beyond me.

Yer welcome, Brad. The site has been very helpful for alot of purchases. Hopefully the HDDVD carries over the film grain. The "videro" game sequel is good too.

I always visit that website. It has so many well-made comparisons and it's user-friendly. Those HD comparisons they have started doing are great and like you said has helped me decide on some purchases.
