We need more 2.35 widescreen Bruce Li/Ho Chung Tao DVDs! That being said, when will we get German DVDs of Soul Brothers of Kung Fu, Exit The Dragon Enter The Tiger, and Dynamo? Seems like the German DVDs (as well as some of the French ones) have the best transfers of these films.

Is the German DVD uncut?

The title Dragon Dies Hard was used for the US theatrical release of the early (perhaps the first) Bruce Li film Bruce Lee: A Dragon Story. It's since been used as an AKA for Bruce Lee We Miss You

I know. In English speaking markets, Bruce Li only gets 1 film in 3 seperate dvds (The New Game Of Death) and Bruce Le gets 4. There is no justice!

As much as the name can make some stomachs churn around here, it's well known Tarantino is a fan of FOF Part II... now, the chances of Dragon Dynasty actually buying the rights for that film and releasing a decent DVD with his help are probably slim to none. But, you'd think he'd have SOME pull it getting it out there. Hell, FOF III has a 2.35 release in France, yet the superior Part II is only widely available on a cut, pan and scan, VHS-sourced DVD.

It'd be interesting to have a "Spirit of the Dragon Collection" with nothing but "classic" Bruceploitation films, and the rights to these films can't be THAT much in comparison to everything else they're buying up.

The funny thing about FOFII is that the UK video was uncut, despite being censored officially by the BBFC to the extent where the cover was censored. In 2003, I bought the tape in Music Zone and the nunchaku scene was intact!

Huh... well, unfortunately, the public domain US DVD is taken from the cut UK VHS. Well, at least I have my old as all hell US VHS under the title "Chinese Connection II", in a big as all hell box

Beware. The UK VHS of FOFII is NOT uncut. I know, I saw it. I think Ivan just got one from a lucky error batch.

the old hokushin vhs was uncut.i transferred it to dvd-r before flogging it.horrible p & s job.

I had to clear up the "full screen/widescreen" confusion with my girlfriend recently... thankfully she got what I was saying and is pro-widescreen

I bet it took ages.

My Dad only owns a Widescreen TV as it's physically larger. He has zero concept of Widescreen and even picked the Full-screen version of my Notting Hill UE a few years ago. He didn't spot at all he'd picked Disc 2

I gave up a long time ago trying to explained it. My family just don't care and probably never will.

Looks like I got lucky with my GF then... erm, in terms of someone who understands widescreen VS "fullscreen", that is

But, back on topic, finding a Bruce Li film in widescreen at all is tough enough, let alone in its proper 2.35 format. There only seem to be a handful on DVD/VHS. Goodbye Bruce Lee/New Game of Death is definately the best looking... too bad we can't say the same about the film

My Dad has Sky box set to 4:3 even though both his TVs are Widescreen because some Football is still shown in 4:3 so Sky window-box it. I find that annoying as 95% of stuff on Sky he watches is now broadcast in Widescreen. The cropping when you switch to 4:3 on Digi-boxes is always really extreme.

I personally cannot stand window-boxing or stretching 4:3 sideways to Widescreen. I tend to find the mode which stretches it sideways but also compensates vertically too, even if it means minor vertical cropping.

I can see why people would want to stretch because nearly half your screen isn't used when you watch 4:3 on a 16:9 set. That's a lot of annoying blackness. People always zoom in on non-anamorphic content to try and hide the black bars, it's roughly the same thing IMO.

No it isn't the same thing. Zooming in on non anamorphic widescreen is to make up for the smaller image and is, in theory, to benefit. Its not the same when you are cropping a 4:3 image, and therefore compromising the intended image

I'll take 4:3 as it was intended: 4:3. I'd no more crop a scope image than an academy one

It seems this German company has the Bruce LI films Bruce Lee's Deady Kung Fu (where Li fights Hwang Jang-lee) and Bruce Lee: The Invincible, but as far as I can tell, they haven't released them yet

This DVD of Dragon Dies Hard seems to use an old tape master, possibly one sourced to make the old cropped versions. But it is anamorphically enhanced and ls a real treat!
