Hey,

on March third, finally the German double DVD of "OldBoy" gets released. It was previously only available here as a 1-discer for rental. I have watched it at the theatre here and the dub is quite good (except for the sex scene and before that when she is singing). The special features are all subtitled which also includes the audio commentary with Park Chan-wook, Choi Min-sik, Yoo Ji-Tae and Gang Hye-Jung. Furthermore are all the extras from the Ultimate DVD on it.

The thing is, I have the first Korean double disc of this film and the second with the improved extras and picture quality. Should I pay 20€ for a brilliant dub and subtitled extras?

Subtitled in English or German? As you like the German dubs and the film a lot, if you want it enough, go for it
I'd like to have subtitled extras too but I dont know if I'd watch them more than once on the UK DVD

Hey, what do you expect? It was Saturday night, he he he! I was at the theatre (One-Dollar-House which shows older films) and after that I got myself a big ass Ong-Bak poster. Fills my whole wall, lol.

The artwork sure is better than the Tartan travesty. The Tartan Art Dept is in dire need of restructuring. The only good covers I've seen from them are A Tale of Two Sisters, Ring Trilogy remasters boxset, and Hard Boiled remaster.

Do you think so? I think it's worse. It looks very much like a fan boy bootleg cover art. I'll be picking up the UK DVD at some point. It's a pity Tartan DVDs rarely go below a tenner. I hate paying more than £10/14.50€.

I'd say ebay your existing DVDs and get this. The UE must be worth loads. Why did you buy it btw? It looked like a waste of money to me. No DTS and lots of unwatchable extras.

The Ultimate Edition, but not the one in the copper box. The standard one at CD-Wow for €20 I think. It has the same extras as the Tartan one, just without subtitles. I got it mainly for these extras (I love behind-the-scenes-footage even without subtitles) and because the image quality is better.

I got the German DVD and it has the same extras, wubtitled. The only problem is that it features only one commentary track, the one with the director and the actors. :shock:

Sell your two Korean DVDs and get the UK DVD too then.

The Tartan comes from a PAL source, right? Apart from that, how it the picture quality in comparison to the second Korean release.

According to the DVD Times review it does. Apart from that I don't know.

Is it that much better?
