*Adding french caps*
And yes, the french title for Spooky Encounters is "The Chinese Exorcist".
Overall this is a typical HK Vidéo transfer.
A bit cropped, a bit boosted, with strong reds and blues.
Not as grainy as the HKL, but not as soft as the Fox. Average transfer, really.

HKL has original mono sound, btw
I don't get why they keep feeling the need to stick Spooky Encounters on the title cards. I don't recall it EVER having that name prior to the Media Asia releases. It looks really clumsy

Overall, I think the Fox just edges it. Yes, it's a bit darker and soft, but there's more shadow detail than the HKL, and less edge enhancement, which is what makes the HKL seem sharper. The contrasts and brightness are more subdued on the Fox which gives a more pleasent appearence. Don't much care for the overly blue look of the HKV.

Forgot about this one...
IVL edges the image comparison. But what about the audio?
HKL has original mono - does the Fox?
Also how do Fox's subs compare to HKL's?

The HK Video looks to have edge enhancement. I like the HKL best.

HKL has a few ropey subtitles, but will be the best available, unless Tai Seng brought out their own edition (not an import).

Fox has original mono and genuine subs but I can guarantee it won't match the HKL overall.

Hmm... perhaps not worth the switch from HKL to Fox?
Thanks for the comments.
