Probably a stupid question... but is this really anamorphic?

hey,

coming from ERA, it shouldn't be too far fetched that it's 16:9 but you never know if they directly sourced letterboxed UK (?) dvd.

French uncut DVD from year 2000
Upon checking, it was 4/3 not 16/9, actually I don't think an anamorphic version of the uncut Woo cut exists, this was the LD master.

9/10 when I take a chance on something it turns out out be a dud, so I think I'll pass until I hear the good word.

I have the Uncut UK disc, but the anamorphic enhancement is sorely missed.

If a HD version comes to the usa through Universal there's a good chance it'll be the cut version.

Close to 3 mins. The violence has been completely gone thru with scissors. The R-rated cut is a travesty.

Its a strange thing as I only had seen the cut UK version for years and years on VHS and TV and loved the film, then saw the UK uncut dvd and was in shock at how cut the film was. Staggering cuttting, like the cutter just had a fit and said out with everything please.

Just think one day the film may get justice it deserves :D until then my UK dvd will have to do, it does not look that bad upscaled on my screen if I am honest, depending on your kit obviously that can change a lot.

I cannot say they know a thing, I asked them things in the past and they have got back to me sometimes, but hey I would not trust them ofr specs. If they say somethings anamorphic for instance, I would send back am email saying if its not I want my cash back and you pay postage etc.. :D have not emailed them for ages, I think theres some sort of online form on the site.

Thanks Mark.

I doubt Yes Asia have a clue. I bet you'll need to buy it or wait for someone else to.

The original Australian release is the same as the Euro uncut release... though it's non-anamorphic. It has been re-released/changed distributor etc though, so who knows what the current version out here is!

In the UK Hard Target was repackaged when Universal broke away from Col/Tri and released their films under their own umbrella. One would assume it's the exact same transfer. All it says on the box is widescreen (but Universal are a bit useless in this regard). If there was an uncut/anamorphic version out there I'm sure someone would've mentioned it by now. Mind you on the net you get loons claiming all sorts of bogus crap. But I trust you guys. ;)
