Name your Top Five Eddie Murphy movies?

Post by bradavon »

Mine:

1. Beverly Hills Cop
2. Beverly Hills Cop 2 - Joint with No. 1
3. Dreamgirls
4. Trading Places
5. Coming to America

I hear Bowfinger is good.

He sure made lots of tosh between Coming to America in 1988 and The Nutty Professor in 1996 and has made even more tosh between 2000's The Nutty Professor 2 and Dreamgirls in 2006.

Metro was my number 6. I Spy would be in my top 10.

48 Hrs and 48 Hrs 2 are good bit they really needed more comedy and less violence.

I don't really think of Shrek or Shrek 2 as Eddie Murphy films but I guess so.

BHC and BHC2 are the two best buddy cop movies ever, both are way better than the Lethal Weapon films. Dreamgirls is also brilliant too. I've seen it twice and look forward to catching it on HD-DVD soon(ish).

He has made more tosh than decent films overall but his good ones are so good. It's a pity he is (mostly) past it though.

I wish I'd seen Bowfinger before selling it now :D

Sorry, but yes Parts 1 and 2 are considerably better. At least LW has stayed consisted I'll give it that but otherwise they're not in the same league. All LW's are fun but are also very overrated too. Of all the Top 80's Classics they're near the bottom in fact, it's a particularly strong list (for fun not quality).

The Comedy and Action in both are just perfect!

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

We both know what would win.

If you started a poll asking if Drunken Master, Drunken Master 2 and Police Story were excellent we both know what everyone would say. It doesn't stop them all being boring and very overrated 8)

Gojensen thinks Blade Trinity is better than Blade 2. Go bite his head off :D

BHC 1 and LW1 are bith great - BHC is more of a comedy, LW is more an action film with buddy/comedy elements. LW2 is great as its so un-PC :D

I liked Coming to America a lot, and Shrek.

Not really a fan though. I'm more of a Richard Pryor enthusiast

Movies like Norbit are proof of not only Satan's existence, but that he also works in Hollywood.

I haven't seen Norbit and have no desire to. It looks crude and offensive.
