Bought the french edition because I was disappointed with the lack of sharpness in the japanese DVD.

Super-detail comparison:
French transfer is much sharper than its japanese counterpart, but still soft.
Japanese transfer has a faint red tint, french transfer has a faint green tint.

ah, it wasn't just me then. Back when the R2J was released everybody was praising the picture quality (9/10 and 10/10 ratings everywhere) and I thought there was something wrong with my settings as the image looked so soft to me
