"Crank 2 will pick up exactly where Crank one ends," says Taylor. "It's a true sequel. Jason Statham will return. It's not a prequel, it's not his brother, it's not a dream sequence. He will [scrape himself off the floor]"
This is entirely imaginable, since Crank was supposed to be a movie that's like a video game.

Crank is over-rated and occationally borderline irritating, but still plenty of fun. Sequel sounds like a good idea.

New cut of Crank? Not a lot from what I have seen, still not known if it is the Longer cut even on HD DVD, they are keeping tight lipped, still its not a directors cut worth getting excited over thats for sure, in fact a load of filler sadly :( not more over the top action etc.. the usual cash in shit it seems with a few seconds of stuff. Hopefully it at least doesnt slow the film down.

I wanted more seriously messed up scenes of violence and bad language, seems the new cut isnt exactly stocked with that. I should have the HD DVD version soon, so hopefully can them comment what cut it is, but it does look bloody hard to see the new scenes as many are so damn short.

Second film I have been excited over since they announced it ages ago, hopefully its more of the same shit.

I don't know how much longer/better the new cut is but the BD has Lossless Audio whereas the HD-DVD doesn't. Assuming there isn't much in the two cuts I'd want to compare for myself first. Obviously if the new cut is much better Lossless Audio isn't worth keeping the BD for.

The HD-DVD also loses the PIP commentary too.

The HD DVD does not loose the PIP commentary

"Interactive Movie Mode" is just that from what I know :)

Lossless sound is bullshit anyway.

Good point, you're probably right. It will be a proper PIP commentary too and not the fake one on the BD.

And DVD's DTS never sounds any better than DD5.1 too

You said! As have others who have equally said Lossless sounds better. Why wouldn't it?

WOW! You've heard every single Lossless soundtrack. I'm impressed

DTS usually sounds better to DD5.1, same thing! SACD and DVD-Audio sound superior to CD, same thing. Don't tell me, you've heard those too? If you don't know what they are, look them up.

You're only saying it's bullshit as "your" setup cannot play it back.

Maybe the selection of Lossless soundtracks you heard weren't better but that doesn't make Lossless audio in general bullshit. The difference being when I do hear Lossless Audio it will be from my setup allowing me to compare it on every title I buy. Not just the selection you have happened to listen to and have decided based on that limited test Lossless Audio is bullshit.

Have you listened to DTS-HD Master Audio too? Of course you haven't but somehow that's shit without even listening to it.

I was joking calm down :D

I have heard pretty much all types of HD sound, not on my system mind you (mine can play many including SACD etc.. but I just dont bother), on a big expensive set up from a pro who invests all his cash into his cinema.
I noticed the sound tracks were a tiny bit different the odd (very very very rarley mind you) time, but hell if I know what was "better". They to me sounded pretty much the same, unless you played the exact same scene over and over and over again, so really I was like Ok nice, but not exactly a clear cut case of one is better sadly. Just different and sometimee wayyyyy louder.

All you have to do is look at the Biggest HD title of the year, Transformers, they did not include True HD, they had the space and like many companies they felt it was not worth bothering. That says it all.

Still its all debate really, whole forums compare etc.. and debate over if they are better tracks etc.. even some of the people in the industry say thet aint better. So really us normal people with small set ups not costing a few years wages are already hindered :D

I'd recommend giving SACD or DVD-Audio ago Romero. Your amp has 5.1 analogue inputs so give them ago. You can find SACD titles here:

http://www.sa-cd.net/

I know you prefer to buy CDs so won't mind buying music.
I noticed the sound tracks were a tiny bit
Are you saying the Lossless sounded tiny or no more than the Lossy soundtrack?

Which titles btw?

I hear (like DTS) Lossless sounds no better really with some much better with others. I hear "Constantine" True-HD for example sounds considerably better than the DD Plus but "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" DD Plus and True-HD sound all but the same.

I heard the same reason, but that is only one example. Are you sure they had space?

HD-DVD is only 30Gb and had to house a 2.5 hour film at a decent bitrate. I happen to think it's more a case of Paramount either running out of space or Paramount being Paramount and short changing us. There aren't exactly that many Paramount DVDs with DTS.

Casino Royale for instance has both DD5.1 and PCM, another big film. As does Underworld on BD.

Besides most agree DTS sounds better "overall" so why wouldn't Lossless audio? Sure Transformers DD Plus sounds awesome but that's not to say it couldn't sound even slightly better in Lossless form.

It makes sense Lossless is bit for bit identical to the studio master. Why do the studios even record at that rate if they themselves cannot hear any difference? Answer they can!

Transformers it seems all they had to do was maybe take off some of the crappy small extras off the HD DVD (and stick them on DVD2!) and the True HD sound could fit on.

I only own a few SA CD's and yup they blow normal cd away thats for sure :) if only HD sound was such a difference when comparing the HD 5.1, PCM, DTS and True HD tracks etc.. then I would be praying to god for all titles to have such soundtracks :D

I cannot remember which I own, but I did recently get Goldfrapp - Supernature SACD, to put it mildly its blows the standard cd away thats for sure.

Fair enough.

Do you listen to them in Stereo or Multichannel?

I presume you're using your Amp with analogue inputs not a new HDMI one? You have an Oppo right? That also supports DVD-Audio too btw, don't forget that one too.

Tried my SACD's on all settings, variations etc.. just to see what difference come from that, I think its the multichannel for extras surround goodness :) Linked to my old style analogue amp by Optical at the moment I think.

Came back to this thread in hope that the mod would stop participating in off-topic-ing, and that there are news on "Crank 2", but I guess I won't be that lucky anytime soon. ;)

Split it, you know you want to Mod :)

You what? Analogue and Optical are different types of connections, not to mention one is well Analogue and the other Digital. You mean Analogue Phono/RCAs. You'll have 6 of them for each channel. Optical isn't compatible with the bandwith needed for SACD or DVD-Audio.

Do you like The Eagles? I can highly recommend their Hotel California in DVD-A.
romerojpg wrote:Split it, you know you want to Mod :)
I was going to but there isn't really much to split. It will no doubt go back on topic of it's own accord soon. The discussion has pretty much dried up.
thelostdragon wrote:but I guess I won't be that lucky anytime soon. ;)
Keep checking back, you never know :D . By all means go off topic, don't let a mod stop you ;)
