This Franchise Set features some popular John Candy films including Uncle Buck, The Great Outdoors and Going Berserk.
Much like the Arnold Collection, all 3 films are remastered and presented in anamorphic widescreen. Uncle Buck is the
only one of the three that I previously owned so i can't say how the others compare to the originals. The original
disc of Uncle Buck was anamorphic but was still not a perfect transfer. As seen in the above captures, absolutely everything
is improved in this new HD transfer. We can see that there was a large amount of cropping on the original. Dirt plagued
the old disc throughout the running time and the new disc eliminates a large portion of the dirt. Grain is perfect and
colours and black levels now look spot on. This is another solid effort from Universal!

I like this movie. Sure it's one of John Hughes' poorest efforts, but it is not as bad as everyone says it is.

The new disc is obviously a big improvement, even if it does have too much red in the image. Seems to happen a lot now for some reason. I never cared much for Uncle Buck, I always liked John Candy more than the films he was in.

Indeed, he only made a handful of films that were worthy of his talent, although personally I do consider Uncle Buck to be one of them.

My favourite John Candy movies are probably Armed And Dangerous, Who's Harry Crumb? and The Great Outdoors.

His best film and best performance hands down is Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Candy was easily the most sympathetic of his generation's comic actors.

I enjoyed his sensitive perfromance in Only the Lonely.

Nobody liked Canadian Bacon then?

I think that's one of the few Candy films I didn't see back in the day, I remember the reviews at the time were so overwhelmingly bad I didn;t exactly want to prioritize it.

I forgot PTA.

Also, I like Cool Runnings.

I thought Canadian Bacon stank.

And obviously so did Michael Moore since he went back to making docs.
