My New Action Video - This Time Me In The Lead

Post by thelostdragon »

Hope you like it guys. "Ein mieser Tag" stands for "A Really Bad Day".

Hussain has only a few minutes to get to his girlfriend before she breaks up with him. However, he is delayed by a few thugs who get into a fight with him. Can he make it in time?

I know some things aren't really as properly as I could have made them, but you always find things to improve the next time.

Nice stuff. :) Nice headbutt at the end in the outtakes. I'm sure he liked that ;)
You have a nice kick man. Pretty much the same as me I guess. Nice and high, good posture mostly.
Some stuff, choreography-wise didnt make much sense... but it seems like a fun experience ;)

Keep at it and good luck. :)
Really hope you will get to show what you can do with more time, a better budget, better co-stars, a better script, etc... :)

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

Give it a rest you egomaniac. At least LD has shown us what he can do.

I liked a couple of the acrobatic-style kicks; the more standard moves, like that slo-mo kick to the ribs, looked very deliberate. I think tighter editing and better sound F/X would sort that issue out somewhat.

Still, at least you're out having fun... and that's what counts.

P.S. If the girl slapped you for being late after getting beaten up by punks you should dump her ass in the sequel. Just my opinion. :wink:

Thanks guys.

@Yi:
Yes, with more budget and especially with a camera battery that serves longer than 2 hours, we are definitely able to shoot better stuff. On the staircase for example, I was supposed to be kicked down the stairs. We decided to keep that for the end of the shooting day, because if I would have hurt myself, we at least would have finished shooting the other stuff. Well, the camera went out of battery. We would also have been able to re-shoot some scenes that looked just plain bad. I'm currently saving for an HD cam. This will be quite interesting.

@Mark:
Thanks! And who knows? Maybe in fact there might be a sequel. :D

OK, but promise us that in the sequel you won't give yourself a steamy sex scene. I don't fancy revisiting my lunch over the keyboard.

I just got a note from a short film contest I sent the video to. Out of 100 short films, we placed 2nd. I won an iPod. :D Would have loved that MacBook from the first place, though.

Macbooks are fine pieces of hardware, wish I could the same about the operating system. Praise the lord for Bootcamp, VMware Fusion and Parallels though.

What's wrong with the operating system? Because a friend of mine has had for about 1 year now and he prefers it to any other operating system he has worked with. Well, that would actually be only all the Windows versions since 3.1 or so, lol, but still.

OSX lacks the flexibility of Windows. You can tweak the hell out of Windows, you can't with OSX. OSX is also married to all sorts of DRM and it is very hard to work around it (unlike with Windows).

One might argue about the media creation suites on OSX. But Apple's own software is the monopoly, this has driven 3rd party competition away, so thus you have far more options with Windows software. There's nothing OSX can't do that Windows can, if not better.
