Agreed but it's now a touch too dark.

Why the sidebars? I've not seen that before.

Because the aspect ratio is 1.66:1, same reason why 2.40:1 movies have bars on the top/bottom.

Christ brad, you already know this. Anamorphic 1.66:1 uses pillarboxing to preserve the ratio within the 1.78:1 frame. This pillarboxing is usually rendered invisible by a TV's overscan.

I don't think it's that dark. The original was too bright if anything.

Right. My UEs of Dr. No, From Russia With Love & Goldfinger are 1.66 anamorphic but fill the 1.78 screen perfectly.

The replacement of distributor logos really piss me off! However, it is better :).

I quite like the old United Artists logo.

Makes me think of Goldeneye.

But they should've made it B&W.

The film was originally distributed by UA not MGM so that logo is completely wrong. But I've noticed MGM doing that a lot.

Yeah like some of the Bond UEs had the new UA and MGM logo. But Goldeneye was one of the few that kept the older UA logo. Everytime I see it I too think of Goldeneye. I keep expecting that Goldeneye music to start everytime the logo fades to black.
