New release wins hands down, a little sharper and much better contrast.

The original isn't any redder or warmer, the colours are more saturated.

I might post caps for the second but after looking there really is no difference except for some differences in progressive encoding.

The Re-issue easily but no way is it enough for me to upgrade. How good are the new extras?

They're not releasing HD versions of these right?

Apparently EiV are releasing a Blu-ray box set in time for Christmas, and also New Line are supporting Blu-ray at least so they will be releasing them too sometime.

The extras are the same except for some promo interviews for Rush Hour 3. The original extras are all there and are good.

As far as I know it won't be released in HD, yet.

Cheers. Not that I'd buy anything from EIV and as for New Line supporting BD, have they actually released any HD Discs yet period?

Tom Wilkinson's face looks redder to me on the original.

Hairspray is New Lines first HD dvd. Out very soon.

They are not suporting Blu Ray anyway, they are suporting BOTH HD formats. :)

Anyone who upgrades Rush Hour has lots of time on thrie hands

I wancted both the other day, fine films ofr a quick mindless blast, but I couldnt care less if I never saw them again.

The UK DVD of Rush Hour has no subs for the Chinese dialogue. Been meaning to upgrade for years

What? Burnt-in ones are what you want because they're a part of the film! And Ivan's right, there are none at all.

Yup, oversaturated skintones do appear redder/pinker, but I was trying to make the distinction more because if it was a matter of colour temperature or a red tint, then this would be prevalent in the whole image.

For example the grab with Jackie hanging of that roof structure, his face is more orange in the original DVD release, but the rest of the image is actually "cooler" than on the new release.

That's probably true but the Waiter's outfit looks less red in the new image. But that's probably due to saturation level or I'm just seeing things.
