Fable 2 - truly innovative combat

Post by EvaUnit02 »

15min conference (at E3 07) of Peter Molyneux talking about Fable 2's truly innovative battle system. Superb watch. 383MB.

Here, link from my friend. This is IGN Insider stuff here folks.

Peter Molyneux is simply one of the best developer there is. I did a work experience at Bullfrog a couple of weeks after Peter left, and the whole dept was so down. He had a great presence there, I would def love to meet the guy as well as Jordan Mechner (Who I actually saw in ECTS show ages ago, He was giving an interview with the journalist, this was before Sands of Times appeared, and the journo was saying when can we see prince appearing again)

Cheers for the link, will check it.

I'm surprised that he didn't leave Bullfrog much sooner TBH, considering EA's general gayness and knack for making everything half-arse.

I still lol at the voodoo powers that Molyneux has over the press. Remember all the hype bout Black & White and the first Fable? Press ate it up hook line and sinker and gave the games ridiculous scores that they didn't actually deserve.

B&W was just stomping people with giant cows and orangutans. Fable suffered from the same fate as STALKER "Lets talk about ALL our ideas in public early in development and leave people with disappointment when not all of those ideas are in the finished game." Otherwise Fable was a pretty solid game, that felt incomplete. Eg there were doors that went nowhere in the world.

Yeah Black and White didn't deserve all its glory, especially as it was programmed well, but if you made a mistake with your cow, like the cow eating one of the people and you didn't slap it, it kept on doing it, even though you now slapped it 100 times, I felt that was a bug within the game, but the press didn't really report on this, especially Edge over here, who are normally quite strict., Fable you could say was a bit buggy, But I remember Dungeon Keeper with rose tinted glasses (As part of my work experience, I was QA'ing the extra mission disks). Theme hospital was cool.

Yeah EA should have stayed as a publisher and not make decision within the games, leave it to the company, as thats their job. You job is to get the game noticed, you job is not to give instruction on how the game to be played to the company.
