End of Evangelion - R2J DD v R2J DTS v R3K v R4

Thanks to Lourdes for R2J caps. R4 is 20-30% compressed to fit onto a DVD5 (HAHA, as if I was going to buy that shithouse DVD.); but you get the idea, it's taken from a garbage master. R4 uses the same terrible print as the R1 and R2UK, it is also NTSC-PAL.

The R3K is from the same masters but isn't a port. And due to having a lower bitrate it's slightly behind the R2J's in general PQ and significantly behind in action sequences."

I didn't know how to crop the non-anamorphic screens in Photoshop CS2.

Manga Ent just needs to pony up the dough for the new masters. They're not cheap, but FFS Mangle is owned by Anchor Bay, who must be richer than Jesus.

If they can splash out cash on rereleasing cult movies (Evil Dead, Reanimator, Halloween including restoring them with THX), then I'm sure they can do the same for anime classics as well.

Which R1 set? The brick with the collected singles or the thinpak boxset stripped of the extras? Both sets are interlaced AFAIK.

The one with extras. I know the R2J's are better but I'm just curious. Might wait till I get hold off the latest R2J Eva boxset even though I doubt they changed a thing.

I discovered the other day that the R3K is on a DVD5, is this true of the R2Js?

I wouldn't imagine that it'd suffer much on a DVD5, being a 90min film and all.
