The R4 is very close to the R2NL but slightly brighter so it's slightly worse looking.
The R3K has the most picture and has the best PQ but a tiny margin.

I have the R3K film version and I must say that I much prefer it to this one. The grain/noise only enhances the gritty feel of the movie, and creates some subtle colour variations that look more appealing than the too clean areas on the digital.

And while it's not quite as sharp in shots, the edge enhancement isn't anywhere near as prominent which is always a huge plus in my book.

I added the R3K Telecine. I love grain but this is a digital animation and the grain here is just incidental and looks out of place, not like it does in real cel-based animations and it's also interlaced.

The R3K telecine just doesn't feel right.

Is the UK disc fine? Not a conversion or anything?

I don't know but I would assume that it's not NTSC>PAL.

Good chance that the UK disc is also encoded by Madman (at the very least made from the same master), so it'll highly likely be a proper PAL release.
