Attack the Gas Station: R1 vs R2FR

Post by tom2681 »

The R1 Tokyo Shock is letterboxed.
The R2FR Asian Star is anamorphic.

Both transfers are interlaced.

R1 top.
R2FR bottom.

The french transfer isn't exactly great, but at least it's cleaner, watchable, and the subtitles are 16/9-friendly.
While there's some noticeable cropping in the third cap, both transfers display pretty much the same amount of information (but the framing is different).

The french subs are heavily simplified, but also more accurate.
The "strip-syllable" game makes a lot more sense with the french subs than it did with the R1's english subs.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".
