This really sucks, but if they go ahead with this you can be 100% sure that I will get myself a modded 360. This would have been a game I would have bought full-price without a doubt, if it would have been released properly, but now, unless the usa version is playable on a european xbox, I will just wait fo an illegal copy.Purists will be happy to know that the Japanese vocal track has been left in for the North America release. Due to issues with the disc already containing numerous vocal tracks in Europe, it doesn't look like this will be the case for our accented friends across the pond. The quality of the voice acting is on par with standard top-tier RPG translations. With the primary characters being children, higher pitched voices are the norm, though the stereotypical gruff villain voice also made an appearance during our demo.

European Blue Dragon gamers screwed ...
... just read over at IGN.com that although the american version of Blue Dragon will have an option for the japanese voices, the european version will most likely NOT have that option :N

How can you NOT have heard about Blue Dragon!? It's a japanese RPG with design from Toriyama and a couple of the gameplay designers are pretty famous as well I believe. It's supposedly a very good game.slasher13 wrote:I have no idea what the game is like, never heard of it, but got to say that is crap, why did they do this. It would be nice having the original languages.
You should read up a little bit, to get you excited (and after that depressed, cause the game will not have japanese voices

Bummer. Mod chip FTW in that case. The game spans three DVDs, you know cuz Jap RPG developers love to load their games full of FMV. Times like these make you wish that MS had used a larger storage medium for their console, rather than SD-DVD.
Dragon Quest clone + Sakaguchi = interesting. Sakaguchi directed all the Final Fantasies that I actually liked. After the massive failure of The Spirits Within and Square Pictures they demoted him from the lord of Square "to a corner cubicle facing the window on a high floor", as is the Japanese business tradition when you lose face.
Another 360 RPG which Sakaguchi is working on is Lost Odyssey, it looks very impressive. It sounds very innovative (which there is a lack of in the JRPG genre) and is powered by Unreal Engine 3.0 - the most gorgeous graphics engine available today (aside from maybe the engine used in Crysis).

PAL copies (at least ones in NZ) have been confirmed to have the option of Japanese voices.
sauce
Congratulations Yi, your pessimism fails once again.
Reportedly the game plays like an RPG made for 4 year olds. I'll pass, cuz JRPGs = ass IMO.

Well... in this case it wasnt my PESSIMISME, but false info, that caused the depression
Cant blame me for that.
I still stand by my opinion that Fist of Legend will NOT get a release this year, OR that they will fuck up the release somehow.
Anyway, Blue Dragon, I'll pick it up once it goes budget. They say it's a bit too boring, no interesting characters, and a 'been there, done that' feel... but I dont care. I havent played that many Jap RPG's yet, and I'm a Toriyama fan, so I'm sure I'll have a pretty good time with it.
BTW, My pessimisme wasnt completely unwarranted: French Blue Dragon players only have French, English and Spanish language to choose from.
So it wouldnt have been all that surprising if they had released THAT version here in Holland and the UK as well. I'm glad they went out of their way to make different PAL versions.
