Recommend Free DVD Software for PC

Post by Markgway »

Looks like my Power Cinema is buggered... so can you guys recommend a good FREE software to download in it's place?

Just something for playback and taking caps.

I don't burn DVDs.

Thx.

I used Media Player Classic. Search Google for it but it's basic in comparison to the likes of PowerDVD.

You do realise Mark you can reinstall software? Buggered so it can't be reinstalled WTF!

Well that doesn't make it Free but yes illegally you can get pretty much anything you like but no please no one post how or where.

It will only mean someone has to edit it out.

Media Player Classic. And it's not basic compared to PowerDVD, it's much more advanced without having useless crap.

I didn't mean from a technical POV.

+1 for MPC.

I use it with DScaler for DVD Decoding and FFDShow for picture processing.
+ DVD Region Free + CSS in the background so you don't have to worry about region coding, and voilà. :D

Still can't find the right filter to eliminate combing entirely, but that's another issue.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Thanks for the replies.

Sorry I couldn't find this thread so posted a new one.

Honestly I looked earlier.

I'll look into this Media Player Classic.

I can't reinstall Power Cinema as it came with the operating system and no individual back-up.

Shit, no wonder I couldn't find it. Some bugger moved it to the tech forum - which I never check - without telling me. :?

A tip:

Check

:D

It's a Tech question so belongs here but yes I don't know why I didn't pm you, oops. I look at all forums except Sport.

Use the "View posts since last visit" link at the top right of the main page and you'll see new posts since you last visited, it's quicker than going into each and every forum. You'd have seen it then.

Fair enough. Surely you got a System Restore CD, no? Plonk that in and a menu may pop up letting you reinstall software.

Media Player Classic is a free small download. It's not half as fancy as PowerDVD which you may miss.

I didn't even know there was a tech/game forum until yesterday... and I rarely bother with the Sports forum myself....
