It's funny you should post this, because I wanted to post a comparison request for "Who Am I?" since it was on German TV yesterday. What's odd is that the German TV version looks better than any version I have ever seen on DVD.

Jap Uncut looks best. Least colour correction, the sharpest and least cropped.

JP Uncut = best
UK Version = worst

Does the JP uncut have the original English soundtrack? Are there any flaws we should know about? I'd like to get this.

The Universe version is uncut and English, but letterboxed.

Whats the difference between the "Jap Uncut" and "Jap R2" versions? :? Do you mean one is the uncut version and one is the US version? :)

hey,

tribe sequence is not subtitled into English on the Japanese dvd. But otherwise watchable as it is in intended language (English all the way?).

Uhmm... the tribe sequence Knetan was just talking about is not in english. However, since the Universe subs were placed at the bottom of the screen (=only visible in 4:3 mode) I actually watched the dvd without subs.

Region 1 caps added and for a good argument against p&s i've included the fullscreen version available on the region 1 8) As Knetan has said no eng. subs on the Tribe sequence but it's really no biggie as the rest of the movie is in english.the japanese subs are optional. If anyone has the universe is it worth posting the caps so we'll have a complete comparision

Salty, where did you get the JP Uncut?

Know any reasonable priced links?

And WHO AM I? was Filmed in Panavision so of course it looks shite when cropped.

The lack of subs for the tribal scenes shouldn't be too bothersome since Jackie isn't supposed to understand the Africans either -- nor they him.

amazon has been using DHL for all my orders since early december. I always choose air mail of course, but they've decided to give customers better service for no extra charge it seems. Orders usually take 3 days to arrive. Just got Rumbe and Mr. Nice Guy the other day.

So the double-version Japanese DVD has English for the African scenes and not Cantonese (like the Universe DVD)? Kind of sad the cover is ugly with a shot of JC taking a shit.

Hell, even the Columbia DVD has it presented correctly with English!

Can you confirm that the uncut version of NICE GUY is letterboxed? I really grudge paying JP prices for a non-anamorphic transfer.

So this has both the cut and uncut versions just to be sure?

So it looks like only WHO AM I? has an uncut and anamorphic transfer.

I checked the CD Japan price and it's too steep for me.

No one movie is worth £14+

If it was a tenner or less fair enough... or even if I didn't have the Universe.

If it runs 120m then it's uncut. If it runs 108m then it's cut.
