UK for me, the USA is too dark.

It does make an interesting comparison next to CJ's R1 SE vs. R1 UE comparison, where the R1 UE easily won.

Could be because my caps are of higher resolution. Who knows?

I'm keeping the R2.

Why?

Only because it has optional subs for the sequence where Sophie briefly speaks to the Priest.

The R1 has none at all (amazed no one has mentioned this).

Otherwise they seem on the surface identical.

If anyone knows of anything else I should check for please tell me.

Different colours, Brad?

I don't see any difference in colour or brightness?

And I'm comparing UE with UE, Joe was comparing UE with SE, so obviously there's gonna be a bigger diff.

I'm still hesitant to get rid of my R1 because I know that as soon as I do someone's gonna spot an anomoly on the R2.

Like the water not turning red in Thunderball, Bond's red faces in Moonraker and Diamond Are Forever, the hrabour shot in You Only Live Twice, etc...

I'm surprised no one else can it's blatantly obvious to me.

No, I agree. The R2 is brighter.

In the caps the R2UK is softer and lighter but I avoid comparing fine detail on downscaled caps as you don't get an accurate picture.

Agreed. Captures only tell you so much, they're good to get an idea and of course caps where on DVD is a mess are useful but otherwise you can't compare to checking properly.

Lol, they still look the same to me.

So is the R2's softer and brighter better or worse?

Ignore the framing... concentrate on the detail.
