Mako

Post by BiscLimpkit »

I'm ashamed to say it but I only just found out that he died. Pity this wasn't covered by the mainstream media. I must've missed it on the various Asian forums and websites too.

I discovered this news purely by chance - I was reading some TMNT trivia and found out that he voiced Splinter and later died.

Sad news and despite belated, he will be missed.

I recall a thread on the asianDVDguide about it, but that was about the only boards where I saw anything about his death.

I was never impressed by the guy and his gay hairdo. I'm sure he was a nice guy and all, but personally it's not like his death means there's now a gap in my life or something...

You are not worthy of the Shimazaki Society! You sure belong to the Sons of the Dragon.

I quite like Mako - it's his voice more than anything - so legendary. But his role in Miike's The Bird People in China was comedy gold. The "welcame" sign always has me in stitches.

He's well known in Japan too (well all my J-buds knew who he was)... but I don't think they knew he died either!

He died in July 2006 btw.

:D @ Yi.

I'm sure it was asking Bisc what TMNT series he was in, Pete Renaday (sp?) voiced Splinter in the 80's cartoon, Kevin Clash in the 1990 movie, maybe it was the next mutation series?

I like Mako a lot, especially as Jackie's wacky uncle in The Big Brawl
