Well the film has a lot more contrast and darkness. In the night scenes it's slightly brighter. Although there is evidence
of contrast tweeking, there is absolutely no clipping or obvious white-out areas like those found in other titles like
Goldeneye and Live and Let Die. I think this is one title when Lowry did well. There are no gigantic tweekings and only
some scenes are changed when necassary. For example, the last capture looks pretty much the same minus slight EE.
Framing is opened up a little with more on the right. Thankfully, all the subtitles and captions are in place including
the missing ones from the SE.

The UE is less bright, has better contrasts, more detail where it counts (Dalton's face) and deeper colours.

I like it.

Noise reduction again, not much improvement.

I don't think it's noise reduction. The old one has a lot of compression artifacts which may make the image look sharper on caps, but on an HDTV it looks extremely bad. These new DVDs have a lot of fine detail.

It just seems to be lacking in noise and sharpness effects but it maybe compression on the old one :) .

BTW, your first capture is off BTW if you've time to do it again :) .

Yes, yes all in good time. I'm going away today until next week so on Monday I'll re-capture and add more etc.

I wouldn't bother with retaking the first cap... the improvement is already very apparent.

One of the main reasons is to see if they've been working with the same print and how much they've cleaned up using particular techniques e.t.c.

Just to clarify, the UE R1 has the subtitle for the sequence where the guard is seduced - "What kind of woman do you think I am???"

Does anyone else think this has a really poor villain and poor ending too? It spoils the film for me. License to Kill is much better.
