The cap with the plane confirms that they removed the wires. The amount of info revealed by the 1.66:1 ratio varies with scene to
scene. It's most noticable on the gun barrel and the scene with Goldfinger at the golf country club. The Ultimate Edition is a vast
improvment with less noise. dirt and edge enhancement. The colours are more natural in the UE as well

It's less grainy now but also softer. Do all the R1's have Mono?

All except Spy Who Loved Me. Seriously though, all the sharpness in the old was artificial. The new is very sharp and highly detailed. Almost looks HD.

SPY was the first Bond film shot in stereo so that'll have a 2.0 track presumably?

I really want the R1 Goldfinger and The Living Daylights from this set, but that's it.

Odd Spy Who Loved Me doesn't have DD2.0. I wonder what this will mean for the other DD2.0 Bonds???

I was thinking the same, I should've said.

I wouldn't say either look HD.

Can't complain about the wire removal.

I think that's something that no one really wants to see.

Does The Living Daylights have 2.0 stereo then?

The shot with the plane looks really different in the UE - the sky is really blue.

Living Daylights has original audio. So do all the others but for some reason none on "Spy". I don't know why but "Spy" really got crapped on with these release, way too much edge enhancement and no original audio track.

Living Daylight was 70mm six-track stereo, like all the Bonds post Moonraker

So what would the proper aural representation on DVD be?

2.0, 3.0, 4.0 or 5.1??

5.1 if you have the six-track masters. Dolby 2.0 or 4.0 surround for Dolby Stereo and Dolby SR

Of course, you can remix a 5.1 to bad effect, as Disney has done with The Little Mermaid

I'd imagine the 5.1 on The Living Daylights (and Licence to Kill) will sound pretty damn good then.
