Fine say you disagree, even call someone a knob but I'm reading a lot of downright rude and abusive messages lately when someone simply disagrees.

I'm getting fed up with it. What about anyone else? Some examples:

1. Shingster:

2. Eva. It should be added he is NOT half as bad as he used to be and as such I'm not going to quote particular examples, just a subtle mention.

None of these replies I feel are justified in response to the original post. They're not just posts directed at me either, others too.

I don't think it's asking much for some common respect and courtesy for your fellow member. Like I said it's not what is said but the way it's said!

Maybe we've become too sensitive...

I was thinking that but I don't think so, by all means complain but this vindictive replying by certain members mostly directed at certain members is really getting to much.

I may've done, but I can't remember. "Downy" is one I use a lot in real life but not often online, since it's a kiwi colloquialism and I don't frequent any NZ forums anymore.

Anyway, I cant say have had (many) occurrances on this site where I was verbally abused.
I find it more offensive/irritating when people misread my posts, put words in my mouth, or are trying to force their point by (maybe intentionally) misunderstanding my posts and what I am trying to say...

Mostly Brad and Mark have a tendency to do those things. (most recent example is the Ashes of Time Reloaded thread, but also the numerous political and/or religious debates, for instance the times where I said I could UNDERSTAND why Palestines could be driven to a point where they decide their only option left is to commit a suicide attack, which Mark and/or Brad immediately misinterpet in such a way like I'm saying I aprove of them kiling innocent people)

Which is also I think one of the reasons Brad (in this case) gets the abuse by some people. He has a tendency to act all wise and mighty, but is very often proven wrong, either by himself misreading stuff, or just not being informed well enough yet still having an opinion and lecturing others, including moaning about MY MOANING when a movie is announced to be Cut or whatever, which is my basic right as a forum-visitor

For me, Brad has 2 sides. He can absolutely annoy me with some of his posts, and with others he's very kind and helpfull. Kind of like a split personality, moodswings, whatever...

Smilies say a hell of a lot, they say you're only joking and aren't being serious. Without them people don't have a clue but no I've never to most rarely been as insulting to you/others as you can be to people.

I think we've all done this from time to time, even if not always intentionally.

It must be Mark as I didn't comment on that. Please try and get the right person. Remember to be fair the Internet you can't see body language so people only have your words to go on.

It's a personality trait of mine. I think you moan to much but I doubt you'll stop just because I've asked you.

The point I'm trying to make has very little with flame wars, disagreements etc... As lets face it we all here have strong personalities and can't resist airing them whenver we get a chance.

I'm commenting on the sheer level of abuse certain members get thrown at (and being honest me, as it's me who brought the subject up) just to basically say you disagree. Grim too like I said.

Most members I've found to always been 100% polite even when they're disagreeing with me but to be called a liar, a cheat, I have ADHD etc . . . isn't really on.

Calling someone a "downy" is bang out of order. Not saying it was Eva, mind. Just commenting in general. And that goes for "spaz", etc, too.

Yet a member has done it. I don't know who either.

Does anyone else think I have a point? Grim and LD seem to think so.

True communication is the response you get! Have you thought about looking at what you post or your approach to these situations?

Missing your point fella. Firstly there is nobody on these forums called Gil, also if there was and it was the same Gil from the old BnB Id still call him a cunt, and if the situation requires it, i would and still do call others the same, online or face to face.

Simple fact is i may not be everyone's cup of tea, but i know when im out of line and have the mental capacity to learn from these situations and further to this know to look at myself before i go looking to play the victim or point fingers.

I know Gil doesnt post here but you still insulted him, isn't it worse when he's not around to say anything?
