These caps are from the redited version of Game Of Death ,Artport in Japan made 2 films from it,the 2003 used some alternate takes and angles and was slightly reedited from their 2001 release.different music as well. HKL released the footage as an extra on their platinum edition.2001 & 2003 artport have different outtakes over the end credits, without checking the disc offhand i can't remember whether HKL included the outtakes after their footage.added Warrior's journey region 1 which uses the same footage but edited differently again, different music, voices etc.

not sure what the banding effect in that last cap is but it's not noticeable when viewing normally

Looks like interlacing and it wouldn't be noticeable on a regular telly... or your capture software goofed.
So how come the Special Edition looks so much worse/different than the other 2?
So long, and thanks for all the fish!

think it's an artistic thing, should the suit be orange or yellow as in the S.E.
HKL loses as it's not anamorphic.

The HKL outtakes were full frame from memory.
To get rid of the banding, set your PC's DVD player to Force Bob

The Artport 2001 wins.
Then the HKL which is only a little bit inferior.
The Artport 2003 sucks. It's been bleached!

2001 Artport looks the best, HKL looks about the same but non-anamorphic.

Wow I agree with Mark on a capture comparison
. The Artport 2001 looks like it's anamorphic too.
What on earth did they do to it 2 years later.

I much prefer the colours on the HKL and original Artport release. The 2003 Artport is like watching through mist or something.

Artport 2001 & 2003 are anamorphic.as HKL licensed the 2001 version from Artport i'm at a loss why the HKL isn't anamorphic.bizarre.

yes but as it was released at a time when HKL could be arsed it's still a bit odd they didn't go the extra mile.

WJ looks more clearly defined somehow than Artport 03 but looks pants next to Artport 2001 and even HKL.

Artport '01 is still the best image.
