Me thrice but info anyway: http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/ ... rist6.html
Lots of commentaries + a new cut.
TPOTC was definitely very well made and looked gorgeous but there's no way I'll be seeing it again (along with United 93).
I wonder if the new cut will actually tell us something about Jesus? All I learnt from the original cut was Jesus was very badly treated, which I knew anyway.
p.s - The aspect ratio if correct at 1.88:1 is a worry though.

WTF!!!
What is the point in that??? I can't believe it's Gibson approved, taking the violence away you'd not have much of a film left.
PG-13??? Surely not, they'd have to remove at least half the film. Unless PG-13 doesn't mean much any more but then the original cut is R rated when it should be NC-17 in the first place.
It's NOT a kids movie so doing this will only insult the original (which in it's own right is a decent film).
Yet again a film is watered down for those who can't handle it. Which is fine but simply don't watch it and watch a documentary instead.

So who's the ignorant moron: The adult who takes their child to see Passion of the Christ, or the person who writes such vitriolic, generalised bile as the above quote?romerojpg wrote:Doesnt matter anyway as ignorant inbred morons still took theuir little children to see it in the cinema ad forced them to watch it. So it doesnt matter what rating it is, them parents have already forced this shit onto their little kids, are still the scum of the earth to me.

Well said Shingster.
The only reason you're calling it shit and scum is because you don't believe the events that are depicted. Which isn't a basis for saying a film has merit or not.
Taking Mel Gibon out of the occasion. Why is it shit? He's not even in the film. Sure it probably isn't 100% accurate but what is (as the bible tells us, true or not I don't know) accurate is shown how Jesus was treated.
Frankly as I said at the time it's a film everyone should see (except young kids of course, but when they grow up). It's an incredibly important story whether you're Christian or not.
They only removed 6 minutes and that was enough to warrant a 15 rating. My god!!!
I guess the scene where Jesus gets whipped with spiked leather went for starters. I'm not sure it would still be suitable for a 15-17 year old, hmmm not sure. Certainly not younger.
I still can't work out how this can be legal. With no rating any age group can see it. It's no wonder many Americans get turned on by violence so much. It amazes me after all the school shootings no politician has put 2 and 2 together.

Remember that film censorship in the US is regulated by industry, not by the government. As you know films can still released theatrically unrated without going through the MPAA, but it's usually financial suicide.bradavon wrote:Unrated!!!

Exactly, hence why the MPAA is a joke. Which I wouldn't mind per say but often it's opinion is also pushed on to the UK cinema audience :shock:EvaUnit02 wrote:Remember that film censorship in the US is regulated by industry, not by the government. To call the whole film fantasy is just pushing it a bit. There is evidence that Jesus existed and he was crucified. Not that he was the son of god of course.Markgway wrote:I have absolutely no desire to see any version of this as I've never been into fantasy movies.
Personally I believe he existed but was an ordinary human being, and a prophet to boot.

"Well said Shingster". My arse.
I guess you are so ignorant as to take a 2 year old child to see it, if so good for you morons.
Parental Guidance doesnt mean taking a child to see violent scenes of death and torture, they suposed to be seeing cartoons and childrens films, not violent hard rated films not even in language they can understand, they cannot even read subtitles for gods sake!
I am sure they take loads away from it.. Ohh no thats the parents FORCING the children to watch it and thinking its educating them.
If you agree with that your a tosser.

Whats that got to do with anything? Its his religious beliefs and stupid mouth that I hate and the fact he is very arragant and thinks he is speaking for god at times. He is a masterful director and a great actor, but when religion comes his way he really can make a mess of it all, in real life and behind the scenes. But its not affecting his box ofice draw thats for sure as religious people rally together.
I cannot imagine a normal child sitting down to watch The Passion, can you?
If my child even asked to see that film I wouldnt even think of letting them, not becuase of all the religious aspects, but because it is not suitable for children at all in respects to the horrificviolence, some children who were taken to see it in america must have been revolted and given nightmares for life, all because of there parents beliefs that they should know this stuff. Maybe in later life yes, but toddlers? even under 10 year olds? not in my eyes and not in most normal peoples eyes I hope.
At least in the UK it got what it deserved an 18, not a free ticket like in america to rally the church goers on mass to see it. I still now remember reading and seeing how these people dragged their children to see the film, it makes me ill to think of the little ones.

I doubt many if any adult would take a 2 year old. Maybe a handful did but a handful doesn't justify your comments.romerojpg wrote:I guess you are so ignorant as to take a 2 year old child to see it, if so good for you morons.
I seriously doubt after all the press it got any did.
No doubt at most you read one example and assume that's all adults.romerojpg wrote:Parental Guidance doesnt mean taking a child to see violent scenes of death and torture, they suposed to be seeing cartoons and childrens films, not violent hard rated films not even in language they can understand, they cannot even read subtitles for gods sake!
Clearly a year old wouldn't be educated but then a 2 year old wouldn't be educated by a kids movie. They're 2 young to understand much more than the pretty pictures.romerojpg wrote:I am sure they take loads away from it.. But yes a 10 year old would be educated, not that that it's remotely appropriate for a 10 year old but a documentary on the subject would be.
Yet again you prove your religious beliefs are swaying your judgement.Whats that got to do with anything? I see no difference between your absolutest opinion against religion and another's against opinion for religion. Both are JUST as dangerous!
Yes actually I can. It's a well made, well acted, well directed, great cinematographer retelling of the last hours of Jesus Christ. Whether it's true I'm not qualified to say and yes agreed it's not suitable but by using the word "normal" you're saying anyone who has an inkling of belief in Christianity is a moron (to use your words).I cannot imagine a normal child sitting down to watch The Passion, can you?
Where do you get this crap from?If my child even asked to see that film I wouldnt even think of letting them, not becuase of all the religious aspects, but because it is not suitable for children at all in respects to the horrificviolence, some children who were taken to see it in america must have been revolted and given nightmares for life, all because of there parents beliefs that they should know this stuff. I strongly believe most parents are good people and would never dream of taking toddlers. Even if they are strong Christian believers, yes they may brain wash them into believing in Christianity but watching The Passion, show me proof.
