As bad as they say?
The first time I saw Showgirls I thought it was just plain bad, not even so bad it was actually quite good. I remember my film tutor at the time (2000 I think) saying he actually liked the film in some way.
Is there any point to the film besides copius nudity?

Nope, you've hit it right on the head with your statement. It is there for its copious nudity. Probably why your tutor liked it as well!!

LOL, he said "I looked at in a different way from your average punter (oooo...) and appreciated the satire" (what?) or something like that. I thought it was just plain bad

That's just him trying to make it sound like he is more sophisticated and to not let on he really was just watching it for the T&A!!

It's softcore camp played to the sleaziest hilt.
Trash? Absolutely.
But I've seen less entertaining "good" films.
And Gina Gershon gets 'em out.

But then so does she on 'Bound', which is actually a good film

I watched a nit of it, I was always thinking "That's Jessie (I think) from Saved By The Bell!"

Why would I be twisted?
Just years since I saw SBTB, anyway the main reason I saw that at the time was Kelly

I loved SBTB and don't mind admitting it. I hear you Kelly was lovely.
As for Showgirls it's dreadful. If I want copious nudity I'd well watch porn. This like that you fast forward the crud (i.e - story).

I remember my tutor talking about Irma Vep as well - saying it was "very interesting, it had Maggie Cheung in a catsuit"
You can't go wrong with that.
