Azumi, int. version and DC - differences?

Post by degeneration »

What's the diff between the international version and hte DC version of Azumi?

I gather it is about 20 mins or so in time, but what do those 20 mins take out of the film?

Asking cause I can get the int. version quite cheap and just want to know whether it is worth it or not!

Noooooooo get the DC/original cut at all costs.

The International version misses out some major scenes (IMO) + a few edits here and there to quicken up the pace.

Even action segments have been trimmed to the extent that they are confusing...

I want the longest versions of all films I just hate the fact I would be missing footage that could be important. Azumi is well worth seeing full and I coudnt possable see whatt he hell they could cut out to trim it down! muppets they are!

The French 3-Disc edition has the full cut in it.
No english subs, though.

So, unless you understand french or japanese...

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

I think generally the longer version of a film is better, but not always. I've only seen the longer version of My Sassy Girl but there's definitely some pacing problems in the middle with all the episodic padding that's going on. The shorter version may fix this.

With Azumi, I've only seen the shorter version which seemed fine to me, but I think Kitamura's film are generally too long. I wish Versus was a lot shorter.

Yep, the Korean dvd is the cut international version.
I have yet to see this film, i'm embarrassed to say, but from what people have been saying i think i'll be picking up the more expensive Japanese version.

Well then I just spent my money on the Korean version ... I know I'm probably missing out on something but I just can't stomach spending double the price on 14mins extra

DVDAsian are still selling the DC...

I hear there's a cheaper bare bones DC on Japanese Region 2. I'd like this as I have subbed extras on my UK R2.

Yes, at this point in time the cheapest way to get the DC seems to be the $45 Japanese "standard edition". (which is not OOP)
