Don't care about no gift set.
I'm buying the first DVD that comes out.
Feels like we've been waiting for this movie forever.

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Err... lol... funny, because it is like the most anticipated Korean film ever. Why? To me definitely because it is the latest film in which Song Kang-Ho is starring. And because it is directed by Bong Joon-Ho. The two have previously worked together on "Memories of Murder".

Aw ic ic... Looks spooky. I'm not a big fan of the genre) although I enjoyed War of the Worlds when I saw it in the cinema), and I'm not a big fan of the main actor, but could be good.
Are there any reviews out yet? And if so, is it any good? How's the overall opinion about this flick?

Kinda over-rated. It's definitely good, but I don't see why people are going crazy about it. Pretty good cgi, lots of good (and sometimes surprisinly dark) humour and nice criticism towards the USA, but that's pretty much it. It's quite entertaining and avoids the genre cliches, but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece
I love this poster, though

Okay then what's it about?
Any proper trailers? I can't be done with UTube.com.
LOL, if I people did that for every film they saw forums like this would barely exist. Besides you did notice I was asking a question? So what's the fuss about?BiscLimpkit wrote:Watch the film before saying what it looks like.

I've posted a nice little trailer in my french thread.
Kinda spoiler-ish, but all trailers are when it comes to this film.
The reason why i'm interested in it:
1. It's directed by Bong Joon-Ho (close friend of Park Chan-Wook's who loves to give his actors lots of freedom).
2. It's a korean monster movie. How many korean monster movies are there ?
3. It's got Song Kang-Ho and Bae Du-Na in it.
4. Everybody at Cannes loved it.
5. The monster was designed by Weta (Lord of the Rings).

From what I've seen, it's a controversial monster movie.Okay then what's it about?

Am I being ignored ot what? It is supposed to be 20% comedic.
THIS FILM IS NOT A HORROR FILM!
It is about a Korean city being attacked from a monster that comes from the nearby stream. The controversial thing about it is that in reality the monster stands for any kind of enemy and we see how it is being handled by the government.
But that's only what I gathered from a few news reports when the film was in early production.

So wait, is this a 100% realistic and serious horror movie, like Ringu?
BTW, has anyone seen LD posting lately? You'd think he'd be posting in a thread like this...

This reminds me of that South Park episode where all the kids decided to totally ignore Cartman, and he started to believe he had died and was a ghost

Beats me... really short sighted observation imo.brooce-leroy wrote:How did brad get the impression that it looks like a Ringu movie?
"The Host is a family based melodrama."
Those are the exact words of the director and I couldn't agree more. Hell, it's not even a monster movie. The monster just acts as a catalyst to bring a dysfunctional family together.
Also there are political and social messages in there somewhere.
