I figured it was time for a non-CD WOW bargain thread, there aren't enough R4 bargains to warrant it's own thread:

* Blue Velvet SE R1 is £6.20/£6.76 from:

http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=30152
http://www.dvdsoon.com/show-title-detai ... r_id=10040

Despite only being on 1 disc it has twice the length of extras to the UK R2 SE (both have director approved transfers).

* Unbreakable R1 is £5.92 from:

http://www.dvdsoon.com/show-title-detai ... r_id=10040

Exclusive DTS!

* Far from Heaven R1 is £6.32/£6.76 from:

http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=52398
http://www.dvdsoon.com/show-title-detai ... r_id=10040

Exclusive DTS! and no EIV cover art

BE CAREFULL AT DVDSOON

I was the other day stung by customs for something a few pennies over 18 quid! when I pre ordered it months ago it was under 18 quid, but as the exchange rate has went tts up now I was over 18 quid :( bastards charged me nearly 8 quid becasuse the set was a few p over 18 quid, so basically dont bother risking it anymore as Customs seem to be clamping down very very hard.

So keep your orders under 18 quid and they do still work out cheap even when stung by customs sometimes :) but best not to risk ordering many items in same order.

D'oh! :D When was this? Was it recently?
Thanks though Romero :)
I think Soon have/will stop the free shipping offer next year as well so unless I'm getting cheap stuff I might not order from them as much.

Right dvdsoon have just dropped prices on most dvds, by massive amounts on some!!!! I shit you not some have dropped so low its scary! (I guess if you dont have a card you have to pay postage, but hey they are very very cheap!

for instance SAW is $13.98!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jesus!!!
:o

I would say pretty much all dvds have been lowered some by $1 some by a lot more! but brand new titles for a few quid is amazing!

Since when did non-members have to pay postage? It must be in the last 1-2 weeks. As I didn't just before Christmas.

They must have stopped the free-shipping offer for non card holders/members, so the least you pay for shipping is $5CAD (I think) now.

When did this happen? It can only have been the last 2 weeks or maybe slightly more. I ordered Unbreakable shortly before Christmas and postage was free.

Yeah thats right, it happened after Xmas.

January 1st it was :) thats why everyone should have bought a membership card, as its free shipping too, as well as getting 25% off last few weeks! :P

but shit some prices are soo checp its scary!

5 quid for the new 2 dvd Predator 2!!!!

4.70! for the new 2 dvd edition of Star Trek 1st Contact! cannot wait!

Do you have to order with the card to see if you've got 25% off as the info page says 10%?

I'm sure these are cheap but I for one have a limit and don't keep buying DVDs just because they're cheap. There is only so many DVDs I can watch in one month, for example there are some tempting titles in the CD WOW sale but I decided against them as I've bought enough DVDs this month. It gets silly spending "to" much.

I did get "Requiem for a Dream" for only £1.99 (£2 off) though.

As I said a few days ago the 25% off deal ended :) on the 6th, now I only get 7% off orders, but thats enuff for me! as 7% off them 2 prices above only makes them cheaper! :D

About 12-18 months ago I tried DVD Soon for the firs time and after waiting for 4 weeks for the DVD to arrive I decided it wasn't worth the few quid I was saving so I'd go elsewhere. I then tried to cancel my order and 3 months later I finally got a refund out of DVD Soon. It took many, many e-mails. Most of which they never bothered to reply to.

Fast forward May 2004 and I was convinced by Romero's gleaming report (and others too) to give them another go. I've since then placed 5 more orders and it has generally gone okay. But this I now believe is because they've managed to get the DVDs fairly easily.

On the 5th of March I placed an order for "The Motorcycle Diaries" and the cheap "The Last of the Mohicans: DC - DTS" (I've wanted to see the DC for ages). It's now 2.5 weeks later and I've head nothing. I've sent 4 e-mails and not once have they bothered to reply. "The Motorcycle Diaries" was listed as being "In stock" when I placed the order (I've now realised this doesn't actually mean twodle), it then changed to "In Transit" and now says "On order". "Last of the Mohicans" has been "on order" since the start.

What really pisses me off is they're very quick to take my money but when it comes to good customer services and a 2 minute e-mail reply they can't be bothered. The annoying thing is I could've ordered the same two DVDs from DVD Pacific who have both in stock (which means something!) and had the DVDs along time ago. I've never had delays from them.

I'm only saving £3-4 tops, probably nearer £2-3. I'd ask for a refund but DVD Soon don't like giving you that! I could live with the waiting if it was cheap £5 order (especially with a DVD at a super price) but for a general £10+ order it annoys the hell out of me. I should've learnt my lesson the first time.

Is it really hard to send me an e-mail explaining they've having trouble getting hold of these DVDs? I get their bloody weekly e-mail telling me nothing new.

I have no problem waiting 2 weeks, maybe 3 but anymore really annoys me. More to the point with no e-mails keeping me up to date, especially when I've asked them 4 times.

DVD Soon = Cheap prices + Rubbish Customer Services!

Brad awaits Romero's deluded DVD Soon praise

there are unwritten rules at dvdsoon that to avoid getting pissed off you need to follow-
1- if you want cheap prices use them
2-if you want cheap prices and an on order title within a reasonable time length don't bother, pay the extra and go elsewhere.
3-they don't like answering emails
4-if you want an answer to a query post over at the dvdswaps forum, seems the only place anyone hears from them
5-even on new titles they are hit & miss-wonder woman preordered & released 1st march still in "transit" crimson rivers 2 out next week already shipped.they are a bizarre company that's for sure.

Thanks Salty. So are you saying DVD Soon are members on DVD Swaps? If so I'll post there.

I wouldn't use the words weird I'd say a bit of a sham. They're only saved by their cheap prices, slightly.

I should've learnt my lesson the last time. I "may" use them again for sub £4-5 DVDs but never again for general price DVDs. It's simply not worth it, especially when I'm only saving a few quid.

As I said before I'm happy to wait if they reply to my e-mails and if I could get a refund if I want one.

Yup I couldnt give a crap if I wait, I get most eary (pre orders nearly always before release, some weeks ahead of release) but older dvds can take a while, hey I want to save every penny I can so I dont care at all how long I wait, a few weeks or even a month is nothing if it saves me a few quid, they rarley take too long, 1 in 10 of my orders take a while.

They are SCUM getting back to about emails, so basically dont even bother, they are total Scumlords and treat people like crap and change polocies and crap like that all the time, but hey they are cheap and get Most my dvds to me, so again I dont mind too much.

I dont get too fussed as its not as if you wont have something else to watch while they come and you do have a lot of films to watch in the mean time Brafavon :)

My Last of the mohicans took a few weeks but I got it for 3 pounds so I didnt care at all, bargain still.
