Released toward the end of the month and it apparantly has english subs !!!!!!

This is a fantastic film!!! A mainland China DVD is already available, but no Eng subs unfortunalty

Cannot wait for an Eng subbed DVD to come out, I for one will definatly be ordering it!!

This is Jackie's best in years!!

The thing is I am getting Pig Fooking sick of shit quality HK dvds and I may just stop buying them all together until real reviews come out as I have been stung bad the last few weeks by fooking appuling quality trash dvds which need to be destroyed! HK doesnt stand for Hot Kacka! so stop making shit, problem ridden dvds with picture and sound problems to sink a fooking ship!

The thing is the L.E. at least you can flog on ebay

Hmm, dilemna now i they are bound to bring out an LE. Definitely want to see this film, but definitely will want the best version (and can't be bothered double dipping). What to do, what to do .......

I downloaded it because I couldn't take it anymore... everybody talking about it and how good it is supposed to be. Knowing that I will definitely get the DVD (as I am a JC collector), I simply downloaded it. So that's a way you can see it. However, you should later be getting the DVD.

Do you really believe a special edition will be released? Hmmm...

And romero,

you're not probably talking about the Edko DVD of "House of Flying Daggers"? Because the picture quality of it really is shit, which I didn't notice until I have watched the UK trailer on QuickTime. The colours look way more awesome there. Looks like I'll have to get yet another version for a film.

Theres just countless recent releases which suck= the punisher was worst for me as its cropped to hell

but hey someone said on a site they owned it and it was 2.35.1 they lied! and should be held resopnsable and flogged in public! as its 1.85.1 with the sides cropped off! even the begining credits are cut off to a point!

It's good to see this forum finally taking off.

I have very little problems with HK DVDs - they're now pretty much always anamorphic, with 5.1 sound, with English subs, some times with English subbed extras and they're usually cheap as chips.

It's enough for me.

The HOFD DVD isn't half as bad as most people are making out, sure it's not perfect but for under £6 it's fine. I'll upgrade if/when a DVD comes out with English subbed extras (if they look worth it).

far from it you can get most films for 6 quid now, and they are perfect now messed up shit like a lot of recent and old HK dvds, 6 quid isnt cheap at all when the dvd is crap!

HOFD is pathetic, you may think you got 6 quid from it, but come on its a total joke of a dvd! You can buy beter pirates compressed to hell than that piece of shite!

Yup so have I, but its a BIG film and a new dvd and its pants, they knew it was shit when they pressed it, so why did they actually bother at all? well becuase they knew people would upgrade to a better version in the future so they make more cash!

Besides... according to YesAsia the DVD comes from Joy Sales (HK), the same company that has released the DVD of "Twins Effect 2". While the film itself was shit, the DVD was quite good. And just like this DVD, "New Police Story" will be a 2 discer and hence I take it that we will get a making of at least. Hopefully, alongside some good subtitles and interviews.

I agree with you Brad, I'm sure the HK DVD of "HOFD" will be OK, even if its not as good as something like Hero (Theatrical Cut SE). If Romero thinks the HK DVD is bad he should get the official Chinese one in his hands. Thats supposed to be even worse (worse picture quality with the annoying "FACE" logo).
The reviews I've read of the HK DVD say the picture is not perfect but fine overall, and the sound is very good.

When will NPS be released then - December?
