The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Top: R1 Pioneer special edition
Bottom: R1 Dark Sky Films ultimate edition

Dark Sky Films' transfer is clearly the winner. What a great job they did restoring this. Don May Jr. started the
restoration a few years ago for Monsters HD and did further work for this release. The captures clearly show the
wonderful results. It truly is a night-and-day difference in quality. The HD scanner allowed for more information
to be presented in the frame. Mastering at 1080P allowed for a lot more detail to come through. A lot of hard
work also went in to cleaning the dirt and scratches as well. The encoders did a very good job at giving the film
better compression through high bit-rates.

Good review over at DVD Active of the the Dark Sky disc and and a comparison between the original R1, the new Dark Sky R1 and the Universal R2.

The Elite LD is actually better than the Pioneer DVD which is pathetic.
