Mediocre Hammer horror -- but like them all it has its fans.
I have to take exception to the reviewer's comments about the image quality. "Countess Dracula looks quite pleasant on this new disc. The strong point of the transfer is its colours which are beautifully natural." This is simply bogus. I had the previous Carlton release (which used the same print) and it was pretty ugly. The transfer looked like it was processed in urine (Pistavision?) and gave the actors the impression of having terrible jaundice(!) The irony is: you don't even have to watch the disc to spot this. Just check out the screen caps: they speak for themselves. I don't know what MGM's R1 is like, but it must be better, surely?
