Zhang Yimou's next wuxia movie after Hero and HOFD - starring Chow Yun fat and Gong Li. I loved both those movies so looking forward to this one. The visuals look great.

If thats the US cinema release, how come there isn't a HK DVD?
I didnt even recognise CYF

Wow!
The teaser looks awesome! Can't wait to see this movie!
I think it's going to be another masterpiece by Yimou.
Maybe it's going to be his last martial arts epic...
What do you think?
Btw: Chow Yun Fat's scream at the end of the teaser made me shiver.

The new trailer makes it look like a cross between "The Emperor and The Assassin" and Wu Ji.
This could be good, but still... Yimou is no Chen Kaige.

Wu Ji is "The Promise" Tom?

I've heard its very good (from you anyway)

Yep. Wu Ji = The Promise.
Some of the CGI in the new trailer looks quite WuJiesque.
Here's a link to a high-def teaser I've re-encoded:

I don't know why nobody else liked it.
The world is a strange place...

It looks and I'm sure will be awesome (can Zhang Yimou make a bad film?). CYF looks really out of place but he's a good actor so should pull it off.

House of Flying Daggers was a badly-written mess.

I don't think so. CYF is never out of place. He makes a good impression in those trailers if you ask me.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie at the cinema. I'm sure it's going to be great - maybe it can even top Yimou's previous martial arts pieces...

BUT it was gorgeous!

Personally I thought HOFD was excellent and well written.
It's just really odd to see CYF in period costumes. I'm sure once I see it I won't care as like I said he's a decent actor.

I thought it was well written with what it did too (the "star crossed lovers" story which is old). The movie is fantastic.

Anyone? Same question. I would expect a HK DVD in December.

Its worldwide cinematic release is in december, so I'd say a DVD release in the same month is rather unrealistic.
I'm looking forward to seeing it at the cinema.
