Whoa! This JS version looks totally awesome. Damnit... I hate getting more versions of films I already own. I rather spend the money on films I have not seen before or that I don't own already.
To me CAP no 2 and the last one look WORSE on the fortune star master, look at the guys jumper in CAP 2, you can't see his V neck patterning on the FS master and you can on the HKL and FS looks a bit dark on the last cap but Jackie's skin does have more detail and isn't so blown like the HKL
Agreed that the rest look far better, oh and that psychiatrist is err nice

Yes, the print is darker, but that's because the HKL looks overly bright and grainy.
Hmm well looking at it again, the HKL has more detail a little but its at the expense of looking too bright and washed out and DVNR'd grain and its also missing the blue tint
Did you guys know that it was Kirk Wong's intention to have a bit grain in the film? As the story is based on real events, he wanted it to be a little documentary style-like.
someone also intended the film to havea distinct blue tint at points, LD. If grain and blue was the criteria for Crime Story, HKL only got it half right then, yea?
I'm outright purchasing the Joy Sales version in my next round of Hong Kong cinema on DVD purchases. A big thumbs up for Joy Sales. I'd only get the HKL for the extras and not the film transfer. But in that case that choice is slim to nil from happening.
Bring on Dragons Forever and Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars.
I'm back AGAIN.
Film grain is a good thing dammit! Say NO to DNR/EE!
How do the subtitles on the Joy Sales version fare compared to the HKL? I own the HKL, but I will probably buy this new JS one now, since I prefer films in NTSC without speedup.

A bit of grain is what the IVL has, the HKL has snowballs.

I haven't watched the disc yet, but The Running Man over at the ADVDG reckons the subs are a port of HKL's.
Not that I know of, but it's got a deleted scenes section.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".
