About time - Criterion Anamorphic re-release of Brazil DC

Post by EvaUnit02 »

Finally Criterion are re-releasing Brazil DC with an anamorphic transfer. Am glad that I didn't buy the R2UK Universal release now. It's a one-discer, but the Bastards will probably still give it an RRP of $30USD regardless. (Should be packaged with the extras disc from their old 3-discer FFS).

Gathering footage from both the European and American versions of his celebrated masterpiece, Gilliam has assembled the ultimate 142-minute director s cut of Brazil now with a new anamorphic transfer and commentary, and available for the first time as a single-disc release separate from Criterion s exclusive three-disc Brazil box set. Terry Gilliam s bitter science-fiction parable for the Information Age has come to be regarded as an anti-totalitarian cautionary tale equal to the works of George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, and Kurt Vonnegut.

Sell it quick!

Ace. I had the 3 Discer but then sold it. My life's been miserable since then - I don't know why I did it. I'll gladly buy this again.

This is great news as the current DVD is VERY overrated. It seems people think extras are more important than AV quality when it comes to this DVD.

Yes it has oodles of extras but that doesn't mean shit when the PQ is so bad. The UK R2 which I paid a whopping £3.99 for  is much better and is virtually the Director's Cut.

I "may" upgrade to this new DVD BUT it's bound to cost a fortune and that alternate cut seems a really pointless extra expense. Who would actually want to see it more than maybe once?

True - I only watch films once anyway.

But I must own this imo.

Treat it as an extra because of the commentary.

hey,

alternate cut is absolutely hilarious as it's an example of suits doing what they think is best. Commentary highlights the differences. Helpful.

It's all a fantastic package and I'd gladly buy the 3 discs again.

I hated the film when I saw it about 13 year ago, never seen it since as it was so pathetic. I have always wanted to see it again as I do like Mr Loonies films :D well Brothers Grim and a few others look dire. But maybe I was too young at the time.
