On the one hand this looks decent enough and it stars Nic Cage but on the other hand it looks like they've turned The Wickerman into a genre horror flick which the original so wasn't and it stars Nic Cage.

The director's past work (Nurse Betty???) doesn't exactly bode well, not that that necessarily means something:

Overall I reckon it will suck.

It does disappoint me this after it's released this will to most become the only Wickerman film. Hollywood films have that way of making sure most think it's the original version. Really they should acknowledge the original cast/crew for the idea and influence.

From the trailer, it looks like Ellen Burstyn is going to replace Christopher Lee in terms of the Summerisle role which, whilst being good in The Exorcist and Requiem For A Dream, I'm not too sure about.
The trailer itself suffers from the horrid technique of flashing images and fading away very quickly, with a pulsebeat in time. Lazy.

The director of the remake is known for making pretentious indy films.

There's a very slim chance of this being decent, unless the trailer is manipulative. It makes it look like a standard Hollywood horror with cheap jumps. It seems to be missing the chilling atmosphere which made the original so insanely awesome.

I don't think Hollywood can really make a decent horror anymore, at least in terms of atmosphere.

I quite like Brad Anderson's outputs - he seems to maintain a consistent eerie feel and rarely opts for cheap jumps.
