Doesn't look like much worth upgrading though... the com track is on the original release I have, which too is anamorphic.
Unless the image is better and/or there's loads of deleted scenes it might not be worth the bother...

I thought that this supposed to be one of the biggest money blackholes of the 90's? Sony are bringing out a Roadhouse SE as well.
No offense, but Sony waste their fucking time on releasing drecks like the above when absolute masterpieces from the 60's/70's lay on barely adequate barebones releases. I wish that Sony were like Warner or Fox - they know how to properly treat their classic titles.

From fucking 1999. The transfer is unrestored rubbish. They can do a proper remaster (hell, they've already done one - only in Japan though), include the orignal mono and port over the Criterion Laserdisc extras and you've got yourself a badly deserved proper SE.Markgway wrote:Fuck Taxi Driver. That already has an SE.
Dude, they never had any respect, if they did they'd lose their entire charm. They found an audience because they're so laughably bad.but about time these films were shown some fucking respect.
But still Sony have an infinite supply of money and the REAL classics market is a highly lucrative one, as Warner and Fox have proven. They're clearly either too stupid or too blinded by their Blu-rays and Cell processors to realise the gold mine that they're sitting on.
I don't see why they can't appease all camps though.

They are not laughably bad. Both films are great fun, and whilst that DVD Beaver comp proves you're correct in the request for a new Taxi Driver, I don't see why you're so set on dissing Hudson Hawk and Road House in lieu of one. I hate it when people always compare "worthy" movies with popcorn ones as if viewers who watch the latter are foolish and ill-informed, and their likes undeserving of deluxe treatment.

Well, you seem to be in a minority then. Most people tend to love those films because they're so bad that they're good.[/quote]I was venting about Sony's lack of output/treatment in classic titles in general. Did you not notice the abrupt slowdown/drought of MGM catalogue releases (that weren't out on DVD in some form) once Sony had bought MGM? Bastards.Markgway wrote:They are not laughably bad.
I wasn't personally attack you dude. Why I lashed out a Romero is obvious.I hate it when people always compare "worthy" movies with popcorn ones as if viewers who watch the latter are foolish and ill-informed, and their likes undeserving of deluxe treatment.
My thought process at the time:- Mmmm, so Taxi Driver is undeserving of an SE eh, but some cheesefests are? Fuck this...romero wrote:I dont care about other films when good films like Hudson Hawk get nice dvds, you cannot have every film done justice remember.
