Surprisingly we dont have that long to wait for them - I thought they weren't coming out until November/December.

In that case I'll be getting rid of some of my Bond DVDs - Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice, Licence to Kill (assuming the new DVD is uncut). Not sure about Goldeneye/TND though, it depends whether the new UK discs restore the original cuts or not.

I'd wait and see if they're uncut or not. According to thedvdforums thread on the Bond UEs, there's been no BBFC new entries for those cut films yet.

Maybe, but plenty of other Bond films were cut, from my memory at least 3.

Only Licence to Kill has thus far been passed uncut.

MGM might resubmit Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies as longer versions are widely available.

But I wouldn't hold your breath for anything older being restored.

"Widely available" - where? I thought you said (in the case of GE and TND) that uncut prints dont exist anywhere other than MGM's vaults. I'll hold onto my R1 TND and R2 NL Goldeneye until this is known
I heard A View To A Kill and Octupussy were cut also.

Well, when I say uncut I mean the non-UK prints, which are more violent.

When the UE's are out I'll just get other regions for Goldeneye/TND then if GE/TND UK R" still retain the BBFC cuts... 8)

I'd upgrade "The World is not Enough" as that's never been cut in the UK but "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "Goldeneye" we'll have to see.

If it's not been posted before they're all getting new Lowry Digital Remasters (maybe not Die Another Day). Who are the people who did Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

Personally I'm hoping for 2 Disc SE's with DTS for these three. They're the only Bond flicks I consider keepers.

Pfft, they're shit. The Spy Who Loved Me is the best Bond film. Goldfinger and Live and Let Die are good, too.

Brad I heard that ALL of the Bond movies are recieving Lowry remasters (except for Die Another Day).
DAMN how HOT is Sophie Marceau in TWINE?

Don't get me wrong I've enjoyed all Bond films except for DAD (I enjoyed parts of that) but they're all so old and dated IMO. I think it's because I've seen them all so many times on TV.

I'd still watch them on a Sunday afternoon and can't wait for the new one at the cinema too.

Sophie is indeed lovely but then so is Denise Richards.

Yeah Denise is nice in the film but the casting of her in TWINE was terrible. Still it does give Bond a great line:

"I thought Christmas only comes once a year"

Yeah true but when she's as hot as Denise is with nice big boobies I really don't care . She didn't get the part of her acting skills.

She would make a better Playboy playmate than actress, of which she is pretty lousy at it .

Be interesting to see if we get uncut prints of A View to a Kill and the like (or even "less cut"?) but I doubt it.

The cut footage for AVTAK must still exist as MGM wouldn't have destroyed footage from a film made in 1985, but it's doubtful whether anyone could be arsed restoring it. That's of course assuming the DVD producers are even aware it's cut.

Goldfinger was cut as well, wasnt it? Though that film is very old so the footage may well be destroyed for all we know.

Aren't the GE and TND cuts pre-release cuts? Of which virtually every American film ever made gets.

If we're being picky for example The Fast and The Furious is cut and given an ideal choice the director would've released a slightly different cut. This is shown in one of the extras on the DVD.

If they are pre-release cuts then really they don't count. It's very unlikely we'll ever see this footage.

Agreed. Otherwise it's a Director's Cut. Robocop is an example - the MPAA made Verhoeven trim some violence out of it to avoid an X-rating, and now there is a DVD with the option of watching it as a Director's Cut with the violence back in. He had to do the same with Total Recall too, but there isn't a Director's Cut of that available as of yet.

Yes, I was just mentioning them, because I knew what was cut. If pre-cuts were made to other films I don't know what they were, except Octopussy.

GOLDENEYE was cut twice.

1. Pre-cut after rough cut screening to censors. Both the MPAA and BBFC objected to certain elements of violence. Re-editing (and re-shooting) was done. This pre-cut version was then submitted officially to the censors. The MPAA reuired no further cuts for a PG-13.

2. The BBFC were still unhappy about the headbutting and ear-clapping and requested several additional cuts for a '12' cert. This version was subsequently passed without further cuts for video (the DVD was edited slightly differently - I think some versions let the ear clap slip unintended).

TOMORROW NEVER DIES was cut twice.

1. Pre-cut after rough cut screening to censors. Both the MPAA and BBFC objected to certain elements of violence. Re-editing was done. This pre-cut version was then submitted officially to the censors. Neither the MPAA nor the BBFC this time required further cuts for a PG-13/12.

2. The UK video version was cut additionally to the cinema version removing additional violence and weapon usage. Also sound effects were reduced throughout to soften the blows and screams.
