Christophe Gans to helm Onimusha film

Post by EvaUnit02 »

Christophe Gans is attached to direct a film based on Capcom's Onimusha videogame franchise. Set in feudial Japan where samurai Samonosuke must battle an undead Nobunaga and his demon hordes. Samonosuke features the likeness and voice talent of Takeshi Kaneshiro (also Onimusha 3 had the likeness and voice talent of Jean Reno).
Brotherhood of the Wolf and Silent Hill director Christophe Gans will be manning the chair for a film based on Onimusha, Capcom's popular action-adventure franchise. Silent Hill had a successful weekend, and if it continues to perform well at the box office, Gans is under contract to direct its sequel. This means the Onimusha flick could be a few years off.

I hope so; It's not like they cast no-name actors in the games.
Gans seems to have an understanding about these things; his casting of Sean Bean in Silent Hill, for instance, impressed me. Harry and James were both quite tall and blonde, and had similar sorts of faces (as much as one can tell from a varying level of CG quality). Sean Bean fits the bill in both looks and the height. Granted, he wasn't playing either Mason or Sunderland, but he could've done either.

Great, Loved Christophe Gans adaptation of Silent Hill, It stayed very true to the video game. But I am wondering if this was a one chance. I will reserve judgement till I see the movie. Although saying this Christophe Gans other film, BrotherHood of the wolves and Crying Freeman are very very good.

Don't let us down Christophe Gans :D
