Underworld: 2 Disc Extended DTS UK £6.45 - Worth Upgrading?

Okay so not a huge bargain but cheaper than Play (£6.99) BUT more importantly I've just found out it does have DTS afterall.

I saw this shortly after it was released and firstly was impressed by the rare decent EIV cover art but was disappointed they'd dropped DTS from the Theatrical Cut DVD.

Well this has everything the R1 has + English DTS. The Dutch R2 also has English DTS but is bloody expensive (if you want both cuts it does contain them but the theatrical cut is oddly cropped to 1.78:1) and the Japanese R2 also has DTS but loses the commentary.

If you really want both cuts it would be as cheap/cheaper to also get the UK R2 Theatrical Cut 2 Disc Set than the Dutch version.

Making the UK R2 basically definitive!

* UK R2 EC Review: http://www.dvdfever.co.uk/reviews/underse.shtml
* R1 TC vs. R1 EC Review (EC is slightly sharper): http://whiggles.landofwhimsy.com/writin ... world.html

My question is this: Is it worth upgrading from my Theatrical Cut DVD? Does the Extended Cut make it a better film? Add much?

For those who can't wait for Underworld Evolution Extended Cut (assuming it comes, yeah probably) they've also got the UK R2 for pre-order @ £10.95 on 19/06/2006 -

Is the third still coming?

The Extended Version is a better film yes. Additional characterisation and more consistent pacing (despite being longer).

I think a third's on its way.

Of course, considering how much dough no.2 pulled at the box office. Sony would be stupid not to.

Cheers guys.

Virgin nor Music Zone are anywhere near me + if they were I doubt I'd bother as it's such an effort to go into town fro 1 DVD. I rarely bothering to buy DVDs in stores now, it's so much easier on the web.
