Upon hearing this song back in summer of '96 it instantly became one of my favourites prompting me to buy the single.
So far so good...
A few months back I bought the band's greatest hits collection: "Singles"
"Trash" is on there, natch. So I sold my single.
However, when I decided to listen to the album for a second time I noticed that the version of "Trash" on there is a different take than the original single/album version (it's from the album "Coming Up").
I couldn't believe my ears!
The vocal was sang at a lower pitch with less of the effective falsetto that I had previously liked.
I can't believe I never noticed this the first time; maybe I just wasn't paying attention? But to be sure I had to source the original cut.
I managed to find a free MP3 download of the original album version from some Japanese site (don't ask!) and sure enough I was correct.
Now I'm gonna have to see if I can find the single which is loooong OOP.
Bugger!!
My question here is: WHERE does the alternate take come from? It didn't sound "live" (and besides I'm sure the sleeve would have mentioned that.) So what gives?
Any Suede fans here know the answer?
Anyone else like the song?
